Here’s what Derek had to say about his experience being a NUG Champion for the Nebraska NUG Chapter:When you think of innovation, you're probably not picturing McCook, Nebraska. Yet our town's hospital has been a significant driver of technology investment. McCook Community Hospital is a critical care center that operates 24/7, 365 days a year, serving communities across southwestern Nebraska and northwestern Kansas. Drew Plaster, Senior Network Systems Administrator at Moda Health recently wrote about his experience as a Nutanix User Group Champion and how it has benefitted his career. Here’s what Drew had to say about his experience being a NUG Champion for the Portland NUG Chapter: My work as a systems administrator means I’m constantly solving problems, and that’s the way I like it. I’ve always said my greatest strength is making disparate systems work together in the most efficient way possible. The biggest weapon I’ve acquired in this fight isn’t a security tool or solution. Instead, it’s having lifelines—access to intelligent, insightful peers I’ve met through my Nutanix User Group (NUG). I started working at Moda Health at the beginning of 2019, and my work on VDI became a top priority at the onset of the pandemic. I quickly moved our VDI onto a Nutanix cluster, which earned me the reputation of being the “go-to Nutanix guy.” I spent more time with the technology than anyone else on the te
Maroane Boutayeb, Global Team Lead, Nutanix, at OVHCloud, recently wrote about his experience as a Nutanix University Subject Matter Expert (SME) and how it has benefitted his career. Here’s what Maroane had to say about going behind the scenes to help develop certification exams with Nutanix University: Some people say that you make your own luck. In life, I believe the best way for anyone to become lucky is to make yourself into an opportunity.I got the chance to put my theory into action shortly after being Nutanix Certified Master - Multicloud Infrastructure (NCM-MCI) certified. The certification team reached out to the NCMs, asking if anyone wanted to become an SME and engage in the certification writing process. The more I thought about it, the more I wondered what it would be like to see what was on the other side of the fence.Having sat the tests, I assumed creating the exams was probably as complicated as putting satellites in orbit. As it turns out, it’s not. Instead, a group
