Get an expert’s take into the new Cloud Integration training and certification with Jeff Hall, Manager, Technical Certification Development.

Jeff answers questions on the Nutanix Cloud Professional - Cloud Integration certification that measures your ability to successfully plan, deploy, configure, and manage NC2 within an Azure or AWS public cloud environment, as well as the Nutanix Cloud Clusters on AWS Administration and Nutanix Cloud Clusters on Azure Administration courses.

Q: There are two relatively new courses and certifications available around Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) Azure and AWS. Can you describe these?

A: We have one common certification Nutanix Certified Professional - Cloud Integration that can be achieved by taking one of two certification exams that is backed up with training. That would be the Nutanix Certified Professional - Cloud Integration AWS exam or Cloud Integration Azure exam. Each of those have their own specific course that has been built to help you prepare for the exam.

Q: Obviously there's an NC2 component and the hyperscaler. Do you have to be proficient in those hyperscalers before you decide you want to pursue the training/certification?

A: The Nutanix certification isn't going to get into the depths of AWS resource configurations and Azure resource configurations so there are some suggested prerequisites in that area right and we do have the exam blueprint guides that covers those specific suggestions. For example, with AWS our training is not going to cover AWS networking basics. It's not going to get into the AWS framework  as a background. We will start with that base knowledge in place.

Q: Do you need to take both the Azure and AWS versions of the exams to achieve the certification? Or only one?

A: An individual is not going to generally take both the AWS and Azure exam to become certified. They only need one and it's been my experience from the conversations talking with the different subject matter experts that a company is  generally only going to use one environment or the other. They will be an NC2 on Azure shop or they will be an NC2 on AWS shop and would only need that one environment. So it will also depend on where a person's coming from.

Q: Is there a hands-on labs component to the training?

A: Yes, the training is going to have labs included. You’re going to see labs within each of the modules regardless of which course you take, including accessing and  exploring the NC2 console, creating and managing organizations, adding users, and more.  There’s a wealth of labs in each of the training courses that provide a lot of hands-on training.
