Hi,

Does Nutanix AHV allows to deploy VMDK (VMware) or VHDx (Hyper-V) file format VMs in nutanix cluster without converting it to a nutanix supported format?

Hi,

Yes,

  1. Use Image Configuration to upload the disk files and use clone from image service option while adding disk to VM

Note: for VMDK it should be flat.vmdk file

  1. Copy the files to container and use NDFS file option while adding disk to VM.

Hi,

Same thing with vhd file as well.

The image service feature allows you to build a store of imported files that you can use to create a CD-ROM from an ISO image or an operating system disk from a disk image when creating a VM. The image service supports raw, VHD, VHDX, VMDK, VDI, OVA, ISO, and QCOW2 disk formats.

The no boot could be due to bios/uefi mismatch. If the vhd(x)/vmdk is create on a bios virtual machine make sure the one on ahv is also bios (and the same goes for uefi)

Hi,

After changing the boot configuration, the VM started to boot. For windows based VMs, we have to manually inject the drivers. Refer the link below.
