Nutanix AHV VM disk accidentially deleted ...

Ok, let’s get straight into the topic. On one of our VMs, we had 3 local disks and 5 NICs and we intended to remove 4 of the 5 NICs, which are no longer necessary.

 

Instead of deleting the NIC in the last row, a disk in the last row has been deleted and no, a snapshot of the VM has unfortunately not been created.

 

Is there any possibility to recover the deleted VM disk from this specific VM with AHV/CVM command line?

Hi @Didi7 

 

Nutanix has a “Recycle Bin” Prism 6.5 - Recycle Bin (nutanix.com) which retains deleted VMs and volume group vDisks for up to 24 hours. If you are on a commercial version contact Nutanix Support.

Hello bcaballero, that’s how it looks like in Volume Group …

 

I suppose that in this case the disk of a specific VM cannot be recovered, right?

Contact support asap as the vm should be in the reclyclebin for 24 hours. (if not disabled)

the VM has not been deleted, only one disk of this specific VM.

 

So, how about this?

Dont know exactly if recyclebin is storing a deleted vdisk only. But I assume yes. 

If not, then restore you backup. If there is no backup then you can consider the disk lost.

 

But again: Contact support ASAP ;)

Just to inform everybody here, single deleted vdisks are sent to recycle bin.

Well, in fact you could even move the file with the help of WinSCP to your preferred directory instead of calling support ;)
