Hi. So our nutanix system is arriving in a few days, it’s now in the country.  I’m going onsite in mid January to set it up where do I begin.  We are going to be using Acropolis (excuse the spelling if wrong). From what I gather i’m just going to have rather a lot of boxes around 95kg in total, I guess once i’ve worked out how to put the hardware together where the heck do i begin getting acropolis installed on it all, I possibly just missed it but was expecting an easier Idiots guide this is where you start with your new system.

We are going to be setting up various windows servers when we get to that stage.  I’m ok with VMWare but never used Nutanix before.

I might be in the wrong forum dumped it in AHV Virtualisation as i’m assuming that’s Acropolis.  That’s how new  I am :)

Cheers

EDIT: Only just thought i guess i should wait till i see the kit it might come with a start here guide.

Hi Booktrunk,

I was in this similar situation a few years ago and can offer the following advice.

Firstly, I would suggest to have a Support Portal account created and access all the extensive documents and software on the portal to get your environment up and running. Everything is well documented by Nutanix within the portal to help with this. I had our Nutanix rep create my account when we first bought our kit.

The URL is https://portal.nutanix.com/ and this portal is also your where you will have registered your clusters for support and where you log support tickets etc.

Secondly, I suggest you utilize Nutanix University (https://www.nutanixuniversity.com/) to learn about all the many different Nutanix products and services and also helps with obtaining Nutanix certifications. The courseware is self-learn and paced.

Hope these couple of suggestions help!

Regards,

Billy

Hi,

It depends on where you are located. If your in the USA i believe nodes come with AOS installed. For the rest of us it is using foundation to deploy nodes. As Billy said get a my.nutanix.com account.

I’m surprised you’ve been sold nodes without any services. To get the most out of the software stack you would benefit greatly from an initial cluster deployment and knowledge transfer.

This doc comes the basics

https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Field-Installation-Guide-v5_2:fie-foundation-cluster-imaging-t.html

In the mean time check out the community edition

https://next.nutanix.com/discussion-forum-14/download-community-edition-38417

It’s a good place to learn along with nutanix university which has a lot of free training,
