Replication is not affected you can upgrade both at the same time if you want.

Nutanix is designed to keep on running even with (minimum) 1 node down in a cluster.

So it doesnt matter with with cluster you  start or do both at the same time.

what about upgrade prism central the protection policies and recovery plan are created on it and during upgrade it will be unavailable ?

I assume you have a scaled out prism central (so each prism central contains 3 PCVM's). In that case PC will keeps on running as it is a cluster. If you have installed PC in just 1 vm than it will go down when upgrading and will come back online when it is done. That is why you always want to have a scaled out prism central installation.

So replication continues to work as prism central is just for configuring and managing. The actual replication is between the cvm's in the clusters.

But I will suggest to scale out you prism central installation as this is a SPOF at the moment.

Hi @alysho

Nutanix replication supports cross-version compatibility, but it prefers a higher or equal AOS version on the target side.
If you upgrade the Main cluster first to a newer AOS version, it might attempt to send replication metadata or features that the older AOS version on the DR cluster cannot understand.

Upgrading the DR cluster first eliminates this risk.

And regarding your lat part of your question; No, your replication will not break, but schedules may experience temporary delays.

hi @LMohammed

what  about the AOS  version  compatibility   of primary and DR site    if  i upgrade from 7.0 to 7.5 it is support or it require to upgrade in sequenc version ?

hi for AOS version you should be fine , unless it is mentioned specifically in release note (which it rarely happens) but in case there is an issue , you will see a warning in front of that version so you will be aware of it.

hi @alysho
AOS upgrades must follow the supported upgrade path.

It will work but try to keep both sites on the same versions.
