We are planning for migrate using Nutanix move from ESXi to AHV.

Does it require local admin credentials for migrations for any account with root preveliges is fine.

I know the appliance will try to install VirtIO drivers and uninstall vmware tools.

But can it be by passed or local admin access is required during migration.

Also have another question on Domain controller and Citrix vms running on the vmware ESXi.

Are there any pre-requisites to be done before migration.

Thanks

Sriram

Yes, you need an administrator account on the guest vm. This is needed to install the drivers. Move can automatically install the drivers (admin credentials required) or you can do this manually. It is al in the migration wizard.

Domain Controllers are a different thing. As described in the documentation:

Domain Controllers should be migrated by preparing a new domain controller, and then migrating the Flexible Single Master Operations (FSMO) roles.

(Although I've succesfully migrated domain controllers via Move, this is not the recommended method)

For the Citrix VDA's. This I cant answer as I'm missing information:

  • Persistent dedicated VDAs? (No MCS, No PVS?) : Migrate them with move;
  • Non Persistent VDAs deployed via MCS? : Create new computer catalog and provision new VDAs on the cluster via MCS. As migrating with Move will break MCS.
  • Non Persistent VDAs deployed via PVS? : Create new computer catalog and provision new VDAs on the cluster via MCS. As it doesnt make any sense to use PVS on a Nutanix Cluster ;)
