Hi.I’m trying to assign users to the built-in roles in Prism Central, for example Super Admin, but I’m not allowed to.This is the exact same issue as @skeeter reported on 5 months ago in this thread. Is this still considered a bug that requires me to open a support case?
Hi! I’ve been getting some reports of users unable to use the numpad part of their 10-key keyboard in Frame… seems to work outside of Frame just fine, and no, numlock isn’t on :) I’ve seen it, though I haven’t been able to reproduce it myself, or isolate a trigger for when it happens to people. Just curious if anyone else has come across something like this?
I had a LCM failure while upgrading firmware on a node. The node entered maintenance mode and I was never able to get it out. I have subsequently removed the node from the cluster so that I can finish the upgrade process. I have successfully completed the firmware upgrade on the other nodes. Now I am trying to upgrade AHV. LCM is failing prechecks with the message Operation failed: Failed to find node <uuid>The <uuid> is the one of the node that is no longer in the cluster. Some how I need to get past this so I can complete the AHV upgrade. I currently have two nodes at the most recent version and one at an old version. Is there someway to bypass the precheck or to modify the LCM data about the removed node so I can press on?
Volumes acts as one or more targets for client Windows or Linux operating systems running on a bare metal server or as guest VMs using iSCSI initiators. Do not use Volumes to create an iSCSI datastore to Hyper-V or ESXi hosts. This configuration is not supported. The iSCSI data services IP acts as an iSCSI target discovery portal and initial connection point. The client only needs this single IP address to help load balance storage requests and provide path optimization in the cluster, preventing bottlenecks.Enable Nutanix Volume Get the client IP address that you will add to a volume group client whitelist. Create an iSCSI data services IP address for the Nutanix cluster. This address cannot be the same as the cluster virtual IP address. Provision storage on the Nutanix cluster by creating a volume group consisting of one or more vDisks. Perform an iSCSI target discovery of the Nutanix cluster from the clients. [Optional] Configure CHAP or Mutual CHAP authentication on the init
Hello,I have a serious problem installing a new cluster on old hardware the machine is NX-1065-G4 with 4 nodes, i have tried with newest, intermediate and oldest versions of AOS, AHV, VMWare as well different versions of Foundation on Windows, Mac and VM’s, tried to do manual install through phoenix and still same error in everyone of them. This error is right after downloading AOS tarball2021-04-09 12:26:28,283Z INFO Extracted AHV iso to /tmp/kvm.iso2021-04-09 12:26:28,802Z DEBUG svm_rescue:Unable to read /etc/nutanix/release_version: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/etc/nutanix/release_version'2021-04-09 12:25:15 CRITICAL svm_rescue:846 No suitable SVM boot disk found. When this error shows, the progress bar stops updating at “Fatal: Running CVM Installer, Starting host installer”, but in log it continues installing the hypervisor, and whet is stops on cleanup ,if i restart host it then continues to install and setup hypervisor and the CVM and stops on waiting for network, on A
AHV host supports load balancing of vDisks in a volume group for Guest VMs. Load Balancing of vDisks in a volume group enables IO-intensive VMs to use the storage capabilities of multiple CVMs If you enable load balancing on a volume group, the guest VM communicates directly with each CVM hosting a vDisk. Each vDisk is served by a single CVM. Therefore, to use the storage capabilities of multiple CVMs, create more than one vDisk for a file System and use the OS-level striped volumes to spread the workload. This configuration improves and prevents storage bottlenecks. vDisk load balancing is disabled by default for volume groups that are directly attached to the VMs. You can attach a maximum of 10 load balanced volume groups per guest VM. For Linux VMs, ensure that the SCSI device timeout is 60 seconds. Procedure: SSH into the CVM as a nutanix user Do one of the following Enable vDisk load balancing if you are creating a volume group acli vg.create vg_name load_balance_vm_attachm
Hello everyone, After some research i saw that there is no opportunities to collect Total Snapshot Usage (Exclusive Usage) per Protection Domain through the API (i’m on 5.15.3 AOS).As i have lot of VMs per PD, how can i collect this info through Nutanix Cmdlets and obtain this one per PD ? Thanks.
Hi I have a question in the Nutanix enviroment.I need to change control for the ssh to CVM so that just some IPs can access to avoid some intrusion access.I checked the <Nutanix security Guide> and there are some descriptopm in TCP Wrapper Integration, But after I changed the file of /etc/hosts.allow to include just the allowed IPs and CVM management subnet. But It will be changed to default after the cluster security config schedule(by default daily.) Is it possible to change the sshd allow list to achieved this goal? there are security requreiments for the enviroment. thanks.
Hi community, I have some Qlogic 10G/25G NIC cards in my cluster which as I understand are not “supported” however seem to be detected correctly to some extent. Manage_ovs show-interfaces displays the output below which leads me to belive that the driver is loaded. However, currently those ports are connected to a 10G switch and so the speed and the operational status are not correctly working. Is there a way to set these by hand? manage_ovs show_interfaces name mode link speedenp5s0f0 25000 False Noneenp5s0f1 25000 False None eth0 1000 False None eth1 1000 False None eth2 1000 False None eth3 1000 False None eth4 1000 False None eth5 1000 False None eth6 1000 False None eth7 1000 True 1000 When I add those cards to a vritual bridge I get the error message below. manage_ovs --bridge_name br1 --bond_name bond1 --interfaces 25g update_uplinks2021-03-31 18:05:50,402Z WARNING manage_ovs:437 Interface enp5s0f1 does not have link state2021-03-
We are in the Process of expanding our 4 Node Cluster to 6 Nodes. The Installation of the Hosts was successful using the Foundation VM. However, the servers have Nvidia cards installed, so we need to install the driver as well. When the Cluster is expanded with the 2 extra nodes, my understanding of the command “install_host_package” is, that it will install the drivers on all hosts, that have Nvidia cards. Even those, that already have the driver. To do so it will migrate the VMs and put the Hosts into maintenance. This is not an option for us, since the reason we are expanding the cluster is that the current cluster already is overloaded. I am looking for a way to install the drivers without interfering with the up and running environment. For example, is there a way to install the drivers before expanding the cluster?
Hi everybody,We’re doing a slight restructure in our DC and in thus need to change the default gateway used by a Nutanix cluster (3-node cluster).I’m aware of the following guide:https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Advanced_Admin-Acr_v4_6:ip__ip_reconfig_web_c.htmlBut isn’t it at all possible to change something as simple as just the Default Gateway without such an invasive procedure requiring downtime? The part of the article on how to do it manually is...Non-existent:https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Advanced_Admin-Acr_v4_6:ip__cvm_ip_address_reconfigure_t.html
Application monitoring provides visibility into integrated applications by collecting application metrics using Nutanix and third-party collectors, providing a single pane of glass for both application and infrastructure data, correlating application instances with virtual infrastructure and providing deep insights into applications performance metrics.Application monitoring provides visibility into the following applications Microsoft SQL server VMware vCenter Server The monitoring integrations dashboard allows you to view information about select applications, such as SQL Server or vCenter instances, running in the cluster. To access the monitoring integrations dashboard, select Operations -> Integrations from the entities menu. The monitoring integrations dashboard allows you to view the summary information about application instances and access detailed information about each instance. You can filter the list by opening the filter pane to select one or more of the filter options
HiI have 4 Nodes cluster with the detailed network belowVLAN1000 : IPMI Usage (192.168.255.x/24)VLAN20 : GuestVM & Internal Cluster Network (192.168.2.x/24)I was using eth3 and eth4 in bond br0-up in bridge br0 (vs0) And then i’m adding a new vlan (VLAN30 : 192.168.3.x/24) for separating GuestVM network from Internal ClusterI am using eth0 and eth1 in another bond (bond br1-up in bridge br1) connected to my switchport mode access VLAN30. The problem is, when i created VM using that network (vs1), my guest vm cant ping anywhere even the gateway of its subnet. But when i test my laptop that connected to the switchport mode access VLAN30, my laptop can ping the Gateway. Here i give the detail of my topology and uplinks configurationTopologyUplinks of each hostsvs1 configuration Perhaps someone can enlight me maybe i missed something here when i’m trying to configure this? Thank you.
Hi!I am wondering, if there is a quick way to restore from a failed ESXi upgrade.Imaging you have fired up a ONE-Klick-Upgrade of the ESXi image, and (as see with ESXi7.0U1GA) the hypervisor is not boot up again. At ESXi level i can backup config and restore config after a plane install. But what about CVM?Setting up the whole node with foundation is a nightmare, if the node is already installed in an customer environment, and can’t be discovered. The best way would be, that the foundation within a cluster could deploy a CVM to a plain ESXi and rebuild the cluster-node from the information stored in the cluster...
Using the Nutanix CMDlets it turns out that out of the 7 protection domains in my cluster, one has only 1 Consistency Group assigned to it, which protects over 1200 files. (Almost 4000). How can I create a few CGs within a given PD so I don’t get the threshold alert in the future?
HI Team under Prism we’ve created a few VM’s (windows), one of VM is our File Server, current configuration is IDE disk 1TB, (60GB OS, 900GB shared folders). probably is better to create one virtual disk 60GB on OS and the second virtual disk as storage (1TB) or more.question is how to shrink current IDE disk from 1TB → 60GB, and if IDE should be change on SCSI disk, what Nutanix recommended?instruction to shrink disk IDE->SCSIthanks Dariusz
Hello all,I am trying to do some updates in a dark site. I have configured the webserver and downloaded all the updates on the local server(like in the documentation). But from my understanding of the documentation, you need to do the following steps:Put the necessary files in the web server Replace the compatibility checks for the specific upgrade module Run inventory checks. Upgrade moduleI find it quite hard and time-consuming to do this for each component. Are there any better/faster ways to upgrade a dark site? For example, download all the upgrades and perform only one inventory check?
I want to configure a new AHV cluster with 10 Nodes, this would be the first time for me. I have little experience to install AHV on Bare metal, AOS, AHV installation, Network configuration etc. etc. Please share me some document so that i can able to install this. Right now i have only Nutanix Field Installation Guide.
