Server 2019 Hyper V with Nutanix ?

Please advise me is it support Server 2019 Hyper V on Nutanix? I unable to Find the article on Nutanix Portal with server 2019? I am planing to migrate from Server 2012 hyper v failover cluster to 2019 Server Hyper V failover Cluster? Which AOS Version is support Server 2019?

Windows 11 Installation config

Looking for anyone that has been successful with installing windows 11 on Nutanix AHV?I have tried, in my VM creation i have selected UEFI and Secure Boot. What I can’t seem to get to is how to enable TPM? When VM boots there is no way to get into bios to enable TPM. So how do you do that?Thanks

5.18 2020.9.16 cannot open web console

Hi,  I just installed a nested CE 5.18 2020.9.16, and it is OK. single node. vmware esxi 6.7 The host IP is pingable, but the CVM IP is unpingable from outside pc.so cannot open web consoleWhen i login the host, can ping the cvm ip. how to fix the issue? thank you so much.

Hello,I’m testing Nutanix-CE on a VMware 6.7 ESXi.I downloaded the image file, and created the VM as described on Internet tutorials, and it’s installed correctly. But when i try to ping/ssh/open the https://CVM_IP:9440 i get nothing..My configuration:vCPU: 12 Memory: 32G 2 disks: 200G (thin provisioning)When i try to run locally:virsh list --allI find no virtual machine running..I would like to know, what i should do or make to get this running correctly?Thank you in advance,

CRITICAL svm_rescue:926 No suitable SVM boot disk found

HI all,We had a server HPE DL360-8 G10  - IPMI enabled. with m2 SATA stick 875317-b21 + Smart Array E208i-a SR Gen10 + 4x SSD Sata HPE and I’m trying to install AOS6.5 with AHV but it failed with error code “CRITICAL svm_rescue:926 No suitable SVM boot disk found”Very appreciate if anyone could share the way to fix this issue.

Nutanix CE - Single Node, NVMEs disappeared after power failure

Ladies/Gents,Second time this happens. First time it did, I did not know how to fix this and did a reinstall. This time I am trying to find a way to avoid going down the full reinstall route…The issueAfter a power failure, in my area, the power may come back for like 5-60 seconds and then off again. This may happen once or twice after the power failure. In that case, what happens, is the AHV seems to mark the two NVMe drives as not available (I have one SSD, 120GB Western Digital booting AHV - so boot drive, and two Samsung EVO 1TB) and due to that, CVM and all VMs are gone.Booting off a USB stick with Linux Mint we can see the drives listed: All I can find is info that requires the CVM, what is gone in this case…So how can this be fixed? Is it a matter of booting with the Nutanix CE USB and doing a repair? Is there something that can be done on AHV (what of course I do have access to) that will 'unflag' the disks as bad (what they are not - if I do reinstall the whole thing and start

Hello, I would like to install NGT on Linux Centos 7 Create one more cd-rom for mounting the VM you want to install I know that the prism selects Manage Guest Tools as follows and then proceeds with the installation, but if it stops at the following steps, where should I check? I'd appreciate it if you could give me an answer

shrink VM disk

HI Team under Prism we’ve created a few VM’s (windows), one of VM is our File Server, current configuration is IDE disk 1TB, (60GB OS, 900GB shared folders). probably is better to create one virtual disk 60GB on OS and the second virtual disk as storage (1TB) or more.question is how to shrink current IDE disk from 1TB → 60GB, and if IDE should be change on SCSI disk, what Nutanix recommended?instruction to shrink disk IDE->SCSIthanks Dariusz

I’m developing Ansible playbooks to deploy Linux and WIndows servers from disk images and using cloud-init (already working) and sysprep (forthcoming, I’m not a Windows specialist)The NGT Tools are pre-installed in images.The problem is that new VMs show  NGT :  “Not Installed” in Prism.Is there something else to do ?Thx

Application consistent VM snapshots in Windows Client VMs not possible

Hello everybody, I noticed that application consistent VM snapshots of e.g. Windows 10 Pro VMs with NGT enabled and installed in the VM and verified with ‘ncli ngt list’ doesn’t work and results in the following alert… VSS snapshot is not supported for the VM 'TEST-VM', because VSS software is not installed. and … VSS is enabled but VSS software or pre_freeze/post_thaw scripts are not installed on the guest VM(s) TEST-VM protected by TEST-VM. Using a Windows Server 2016 VM with the respective Protection Domain generates application consistent Nutanix VM snapshots. With Windows 10 VMs it won’t work. Verified in 2 different Nutanix clusters. Clusters are equipped with AOS 5.15.4 LTS version. Nowhere I could find a hint, that Windows 10 VMs are not supported. Regards,Didi7

Nutanix cluster

DearsPlease your support in this critical case : I have 2 nutanix blocks, each 3 nodes;they`re all connected to a one switch with 12 cables ( 2 each), all in the same vlan (vlan 1), the switch is connected to firewall (trunk port from switch to firewall), I had set the cvm ip to 10.10.20.x range, I have the gateway from firewall 10.10.20.254, how I can add gateway to the cluster so the vms inside can be reached?what network settings or changes I must do? Thank you

LDAP login without the domain name

We have a very long domain name and with the current config we are using the UPN (name@company.com) name to login. This is becoming very irritating for me to enter the domain name each time I login. Can we configure a default domain for all the login users to use if the user didn’t mention any domain and of course if we don’t have local user by the same name?

Shutting down a cluster

The instructions for shutting down a cluster are to use “sudo shutdown -P now” on the CVM’s in the cluster to shut each one down, but the command only works on the first CVM.   The command errors out the rest of the CVMs because they can’t reach the first CVM that was shut down.   Am I missing something?

Can't install NX G6 AOS 5.10 version?

The NX G6 demo equipment is currently updated with the latest firmware. If you try to install version 5.10 to test the AOS upgrade with the latest version of the foundation, the 4. foundation version will not mount, and the 5. latest foundation version will not configure CVM after rebooting after installation and installation will fail. Is it like this originally?

0 VMs?

One of our newly installed Nutanix blocks shows 0 VMs from the web interface. There are no user VMs on this block; wouldn't I at least see a controller VM per node (3 nodes currently so I think I should see 3 controllers VMs). The cluster is up and all shows as healthy. Running vSphere on these nodes and when I connnect to the nodes indiviually via vCenter, I can see the controller VM. What am I missing?

Check Hypervisor Password from CVM

Hi , I have run below command to show my hypervisor password from one of the CVM , but the password doesn't come out , anyone can help ? Hello, Nutanix article 000001037 (Configuring VMware Distributed Switch (vDS) on Nutanix Platform) only has ESXi 5.1 and earlier as "versions affected", does anyone know if there is anything special / extra to configure on ESXi 5.5? Thank you.

vSphere 5.5U1 and NFS disconnects

Hello, It's made the news yesterday, but in case you missed it, there seems to be a bug within vSphere 5.5U1 that affects all NFS users. NetApp & VMware (at least, maybe Nutanix too?) are working on the subject. Distributed switch

We would really like to use the distributed switch in VMware cluster. There seems to be a lack of documentation on how to properly implement it with Nutanix. For example I seem to remember that the Nutanix controller VM’s should not be moved from their installed switch and they have to be able to talk to vSphere and or the ESXi hosts. But if I want to put vSphere and the ESXi hosts into the dvSwitch and how do I do this? I might not be wording this question correctly, but one of the goals would be to have traffic separated by VLAN and protected by QOS where necessary. Is there documentation on how to do this correctly in a Nutanix environment? Has anyone tried to do this?

IPMItool Full Duplex Command

Hello - Does anyone know if there is an IPMItool command to set the interface to 100MB full duplex? Is this option to change it even available? We are having some IPMI issue where connectivity drops every so often. We are working with networking to check their side, and we've done various things to test/isolate the issue. On the network switch side, the ports have been configured to 100MB from 1GgE. One suggestion that came up from networking is to set the IPMI interface to 100MB full duplex. Thank you. RV

Have any users/customers changed either the default IPMI/ESXi/CVM passwords?

I'm deploying 4 Nutanix blocks for my customer. They are a security conscious company so changing the IPMI/ESXi/CVM passwords was a given after the install completed. We've experienced no end of issues after changing the passwords and now have a support call open to try and get the issue resolved. Don't get me wrong, the support is good, but I get the impression changing the passwords is something of an unknown. I'd be interested to hear other people's experiences.

Diagnostics VM Time to Deploy - 4.0.2.1

Good afternoon, Can someone please sanity check something for me, one of the BEarena team is running a diagnostics test which is taking 7-8 minutes to deploy each diagnostics VM. What is considered to be a normal amount of time? At this rate the 8 node cluster will take over 1 hour to run diagnostics. Thanks Darryl

How can I change the product location in the support portal?

When I go to edit the Break/Fix options for my products, I can't change their location - I can only change the support personnel. We're just getting up and running with our Nutanix hardware and we're moving one of our Blocks to a DR data center in a few days; our primary data center is where the Block has been assigned to.
