Exam Question

You will need access to a 6.5 environment to work on this question. You can use Nutanix TestDrive or your own test environment.

To setup the scenario, create a Category with a name of Sky_Tier and a value of T1.

Scenario:

Create a playbook named Sky_Playbook to increase memory on any Memory Constrained VMs tagged with any value in the AppType: Sky_Tier category.

Playbook configuration:

  • Create a snapshot

  • Hot-add memory by 2 GiB to a maximum of 16 GiB

  • Resolve the alert

  • Send email to admin_list@cyberdyne.net

  • Email subject parameter: Alert Name

  • Email message: “Resolved”

Create the playbook and enable it.  Then export the playbook to desktop\Sky_Playbook.pbk.

Note: Do not power on the VM.  You must export the playbook as desktop\Sky_Playbook.pbk to receive any credit.

Correct Answer

Create a new Playbook with the name Sky_Playbook

First, set an Alert trigger for VM {vm_name} Memory Constrained specifying VMs in Categories and selecting Sky_Tier:T1

Next, add an action of VM Recovery Point with a target of Alert:Source Entity

Then, add an action of VM Add Memory with a target of Alert:Source Entity, adding 2GB up to a max of 16GB.

Add another action of Resolve Alert, finally add an action to Email admin_list@cyberdyne.net with a subject of Alert:Alert Name and enter Resolved in the Message field.

Save and enable the playbook, then export it.
