The winds of change are whipping through the halls of managed service providers (MSPs), especially those with substantial investments in Backup as a Service (BaaS) solutions for Veeam customers. VMware announced recently that they will be significantly modifying their Advantage Partner Program for VMware Cloud Service Providers (VCSPs) on October 31, 2025, which is resulting in many MSPs looking for a replacement solution for their BaaS customers. Having a replacement solution that enables existing revenue streams to continue without a big lift and shift would be tremendous relief to impacted partners

In response to market dynamics, Nutanix and Veeam have teamed up and are actively developing enhanced solutions for MSPs who require multitenancy constructs in order to maintain economy of scale solutions. In turn, BaaS customers will enjoy seamless continuity (even if the MSP transitions its infrastructure from VMware to Nutanix) and, in many cases, customers won’t even know their MSP’s infrastructure of choice has changed since their services won’t be materially changed. This is a win-win-win scenario that addresses a critical market.

As a precursor to this joint solution, Nutanix has two new products designed specifically for the MSP market which offer true infrastructure multitenancy. First, the Nutanix Projects solution introduced a logical namespace to organize, manage, share and isolate infrastructure resources across departments/tenants through role-based access control (RBAC) to support compliance and security requirements. This is a fundamental technology that enables multitenancy solutions for MSPs, and the primary point of integration for Veeam Data Platform (VDP). Veeam Data Platform is now Projects aware.

Nutanix Projects

MSPs will be able to offer Veeam based BaaS customers a solution that supports both service provider administered and self-service backup use cases. This means that Veeam customers will be able to consume resources assigned only to them while the MSP manages infrastructure resource allocations to match their customer’s customized subscription plan. This is where the second Nutanix product will help. Coming soon, Nutanix will be launching Nutanix SP Central, an extension of its top-level Nutanix Central management plane. Nutanix SP Central will provide an additional layer of management simplicity for MSPs by streamlining onboarding workflows and presenting aggregate views of all tenants within the MSPs operating environment. With these new Nutanix products and strategic innovations with Veeam, MSPs will enjoy enhanced multitenancy features previously unavailable in the market.

Veeam Integration with Nutanix Projects

Veeam is a long-standing partner of Nutanix and has been tightly integrated with the Nutanix Cloud Platform (NCP) software stack for years, supporting core technologies such as agentless AHV hypervisor change-block tracking (CBT), Instant Restore, Nutanix Files Storage, NAS Backup, Nutanix Flow, Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP), and Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) (available on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud ). Veeam’s strong legacy of integration with Nutanix’s portfolio of products continues to expand with the MSP solution.
