The Life Cycle Manager (LCM) tracks and upgrades both software and firmware versions of all entities in the cluster, completely in-band with Nutanix Prism Element and Prism Central.

Resolved Issues

  • Redfish Inventory Time: Improved by over 50% per Redfish module.
  • BIOS Upgrade Failure on G9 Secure Boot Node: Fixed issue with CVM not powering on automatically after ESXi host boots up.
  • Update Hardware Entities on Dell Platform: Resolved space issue during the Redfish upgrade process.
  • ESXi 8.0 Upgrade on Skylake CPU Platforms: Fixed compatibility issues preventing upgrades to ESXi 8.0.
  • SSL Error During Firmware Upgrade: Added pre-check for bad certificates in Phoenix to avoid SSL errors.
  • Incorrect Host NIC Count with RDMA and iSER: Corrected NIC inventory display issue when RDMA and iSER are configured.
  • UEFI Component Power Cycle: Enabled AC power cycle for SPR and Genoa UEFI components.

Usage Caveats

  • Intel Firmware Update Path: Must update from Intel DCB-6.x to Intel DCF-8.0; no direct update from versions earlier than 6.x.
  • Secure Boot Platforms BIOS Update Block: BIOS updates on Nutanix G8 platforms set Secure Boot to Disabled; updates are blocked to avoid this.
  • SATA DOM Updates on Lenovo Gen5 Platforms: Disabled per Lenovo's request; manual updates required.
  • Manual Downgrade Alerts: LCM will alert you to update if any Dell firmware is manually downgraded.
