Is it mandatory to deploy Prism Central for a new Nutanix 3 nodes Deployment? is there any feature or function cannot be done on Prism Element E.g. License renewal etc

I was looking at the thread and understand that licensing done through Prism Central now. Is this correct?

On version 7.x onwards licensing was moved to Prism Central, I don’t think you will be able to update your cluster licensing anymore from Prism Element alone.
If you are using AHV as an hypervisor, Prism Central is highly recommended because it will help you define proper RBAC for users, create VM Templates and images, manage OVAs, manage NGT deployments, better APIs for terraform/ansible automation, etc… Prism Central gives you a much better management for Hypervisor operations and it’s free in terms of licensing (except the resource consuption) so why not?
Instalation is also simple, so I think it’s worth the effort.

Hi Yong,

Prism Central is optional, not mandatory. There is no impact on licensing, renewals, or core cluster operations if you only use Prism Element. You can always deploy Prism Central later if your environment grows or your requirements change.

Prism Central is mainly needed when you want Centralized management for multiple clusters. If you’re running a single 3-node cluster and don’t need advanced automation or multi-cluster visibility, Prism Element is usually more than sufficient.

Thanks

Yes, PC is needed for licensing. If you dont want to use it for advanced features deploy is as an xsmall single VM.
