Hi all, today I wanted to upgrade NOS on one of our clusters from 4.1.x to 4.6.3 which worked perfectly fine for another cluster. The first CVM was updated successfully but the next CVM Update failed. (Maybe due to connectivity issues to the host.) upgrade_status says, that the node is upgrading right now, but in fact the CVM is powered off and won't boot. After it displays the following information it reboots fails again and after the second reboot it stays shut down. Is there a simple fix for this or do I have to open a support ticket? EDIT: it seems like the update process tried to shut down this cvm but got a timeout and now the update is somehow stuck. Can I somehow restart the upgrade process or manually update this CVM? Thank you.
We moved a NX3000 to a new environment but one of the nodes died. So we had to reimage that node. The other two where still up and running. But after a power-failure on the rack, the two nodes rebooted but won't come up anymore. WE are running on AOS version 18.104.22.168 and planning to upgrade it. When I checked in Upgrade path, the maximum version I can upgrade to is 5.6.2 I need to know, if I want to upgrade to the latest version which is 22.214.171.124, do I have to follow the path like 126.96.36.199 >> 5.6.2 >> 5.9.2 >> 188.8.131.52 , basically a 3 step procedure OR is it that I can upgrade to 5.6.2 only. Please share your views.
Hi guys..Is it possible to customize/deploy an already created sysprepped image in nutanix via the script engine? Its not that well explained in the kb.. Or i have not found the correct kb.I want to deploy patched images based on a XML unattendede file if possible.I really like the VMware customization options.
We are using Nutanix ( AOS 184.108.40.206) with AHV-Hypervisor. Connecting to a VM(W2K12,W2K8, German) via Prim & VNC-Console there is no possibility to change Keyboard-Layout. Our Computers are on Win7 - German with German QWERTZ - Keyboard Layout. No matter which Browser we are using (IE11, Chrome, Firefox) we can not type special characters like \ / . We also tried the American Key for / \ without success. Is there a posibility to fix this Problem? Or is it a Bug ? Looking forward to hear your comments: F.Hil
So the hosts themselves have been changed accordingly for the timezone the customer wants, but was wondering, for Prism to show the correct timestamps on stuff being done, would this come from the CVM time zone or where is the setting for the switching PRISM to use the customer specified timezone for timestamps?
Hi Folks, For Nutanix product, Is it a best practice to have the latest software version (e.g AOS,NCC) installed, No matter first-time installation, or upgrade. Some venders may advise just install the slightly lower version then the newest. My real user case: we installed NX 2 months ago, and plan to put it into produciton these days, but two new AOS version has been available on Portal.nutanix.com, So Can I update AOS to the newest one ?
I have an NX-1450. I'm using the IMPI to mount a new Phoenix ISO. The IPMI CD-ROM Image status message shows "There is a disk mounted." However when I power cycle the node and hit F11 to bring up the boot device menu, I don't see an IPMI Virtual CDROM in the list at all. What could I be doing wrong? Here are the boot devices I see. Hi there, I'm facing a problem with Prism that display some weird chart. As you can see above, the chart shows no value (blank) every 6mins. When I go to the analysis page, the blank is still present and there is some strange movement of the Memory line: Do you know where this could come from ?
Dears , I have aleady configured 3 nodes Nutanix block(NX-1000 series) more than year ago ,and now our customer requested anew node (NX-3000 serie) to be added into existing cluster.Could you please letme know the best way to add this node without impacting the running nodes? Regards,
I have this same error on 3 nodes - I have checked networking / Time and connectivity and it all seems ok. Running ncc health checks on different services gives me a range of things to check. Not sure where to start with this. The Hosts are Hyper-V.
I've been trying to clear out a entry in the nCLI interface on a CVM without luck. tried the standard 'history -c' and 'events history clear'. Basically I have a value I dont want to show up at the propmt is a user is cycling through the "up arrow history" while in ncli. Anyone with the command?

I currently have 2 x NX-1450, both are running NOS 4.0.1 and I'm using Hyper-V. Everything is linked up to 10Gb and I'm using a physical veeam server outside of Nutanix to back up both clusters, he is linked up to 4Gb. We are currently suffering from a bad backup performance, let's say something around 30-40Mb/s processing rate for one VM that is on a node that isn't doing anything at all. If I perform the same tests on an NX-3360, I can easily get up to 160-180MB/s processing rate, so that kinda rules out my network/configuration. Is there anyone out there running NX-1050 with vmware or hyper-v and Veeam and that can share their configuration/processing rates?
Hi Folks, Got something wiered happened today, might be a bug or something. I was to change current time zone setting by Get-NTNXCluster | Set-NTNXCluster -Timezone "Australia/Sydney" However it throw me an error: "The cluster name may contain only English letters, decimal digits (0-9), dots, hyphens and underscores. Set-NTNXCluster : The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error." Then I thought it might be because I did not include cluster id, so I ran below command : Get-NTNXContainer -Id xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxxxx::4769 | Set-NTNXCluster -Timezone "Australia/Sydney" Apprently you will find instead of using Get-NTNXCluster, I used Get-NTNXContainer which I copied from command I previously ran without double check, you would assume that will throw me an error, but it did not, it finished with a "Success". Yes, it did change the timezone on the cluster, however at the same time it changed cluster name to the Container name as wel
Good day Nutants I got a situation that I'd really appreciate your help in resolving After successfully migrating a PD to a remote site and successfully powering on the VM at the remote site, when I attempt to Migrate the PD back to the Main(Prod) Site it fails with error : critical Protection Domain XXXXXXX activate/deactivate failed and cause is listed as "Protection domain cannot be activated or migrated" Any pointers?? This PD has one CG with one VM in it (WIN SERVER 2012 with NGT installed and NGA service is running)
Hi Gents, I am facing an issue with upgrading ESXi 6.0 update 1 to Esxi 6.0 Update 2. Please find the details below. NOS: 4.7.3 Hypervisor: ESXi update 1, looking to update to ESXi 6.0 update 2. H/W: Lenovo HX5510 Issue: I downloaded the respective binary from Lenovos website which shows as compatible for HX5510. MD5SUM looks good after uploading the ESXi binary but i see "(not qualified)" after the iso fille name on the upgrade screen. Also there is a warning in red on top of the upgrade page that says Version ID of the software release, , does not exist. Is it because Nutanix is yet to pass quality for this version or is it not supported at all ? Also is there any link to view a interoperatibility matrix for nutanix nos versions against different hypervisor version support ? Cheers,
Hi all, I have already posted this problem in other forum section but maybe it should not be there so I repost it here so that I could get an appropriate and fast answer To summarize the problem, I am in the same situation in which I cannot enable the deduplication on HDD and I have also tried running the commands below and the result seems a little bit inadequate because I have configured the CVM RAM up to 32GB nutanix@NTNX-13SM31320001-B-CVM:10.9.120.115:~$ allssh 'grep "for on-disk deduplication feature" ~/data/logs/stargate*'Executing grep "for on-disk deduplication feature" ~/data/logs/stargate* on the cluster================== 10.9.120.114 =================FIPS mode initializedNutanix Controller VM================== 10.9.120.115 =================FIPS mode initializedNutanix Controller VM================== 10.9.120.116 =================FIPS mode initializedNutanix Controller VM/home/nutan
I have a problem with arp requests on the bridge for guest traffic In the drawing below the current architecture. If a request arrives from the outside, passing through the firewall, and the firewall is starting to communicate to a VM connected to a NIC to BR1-UP bond of BR1 bridge, the ARP request for the resolution of the VM address stops at the bridge BR1 and do not reach the VM, in this case the firewall and VM ARP tables remain unpopulated and the communications stop. On the other hand, if the communications depart from the VM to the Firewall (for example with a ping) the ARP request is processed by the firewall and the ARP tables of firewall and VM are correctly populated with the respective MAC ADDRs. Firewall IP and VM IP are in the same broadcast domain, no routing. I checked with Wireshark on the windows VM, with tcpdump and ovs-appctl fdb/show on the Nutanix host and when the communications start from the firewall the ARP request goes up to the physical card of the BR1
