Dears

Please your support in this critical case :

I have 2 nutanix blocks, each 3 nodes;

they`re all connected to a one switch with 12 cables ( 2 each), all in the same vlan (vlan 1), the switch is connected to firewall (trunk port from switch to firewall), I had set the cvm ip to 10.10.20.x range, I have the gateway from firewall 10.10.20.254, how I can add gateway to the cluster so the vms inside can be reached?

what network settings or changes I must do?

Thank you

The cluster doesnt need to have a gateway to access the vm's. The vm's need to have a gateway to access them.

So in short.

  1. Make sure you create a network in prism where the vm's are attached to.
  2. Make sure that network has a vlan which is available on the network and routable.

And one tip 😉 Get another switch and attach the nodes on both switches. Now you have a big SPOF.

Thank you Jeroen

I created a windows vm and assigned the gateway IP but the same, regarding the vlans I don`t have any vlans on the switch rather than the native vlan (vlan 1, WHICH HAS NO IP SET), and I set the vlan of my vm to 1, also;

DO I HAVE TO CHANGE THE VLAN OF VM TO BE 0 ?

OR WHAT CHANGE  MUST BE DONE!.

Ahh so if the native vlan is 1 on the switch make sure you create a network in prism with vlan 0. (0 is the native vlan in nutnaix).

Attach the vm's to that switch and test again.

VMs use the uplinks to get out to there gateway based on there subnet and vlan no need to set up gateway on cluster level.

On the other hand, on VM level, for static IPs it defined manual, for DHCP, you can use Nutanix IPAM for IP addresses management for VMs. for more details check the link below: IP Address Management.

For AHV networking, check the link below: Host Network Management

Thank you all for your kind response,

If I want to make vlans, how that comes?

what configuration must be done from vswitch in Nutanix? OR from the physical switch?
