Hi, We purchad Huawei servers end of last year (check compatibility matrix brought by Nutinix itself https://docplayer.net/136878906-Huawei-hardware-compatibility-list.html and due to Covid19, we were not able to install them until now. Currently we have 4 servers with part numbers from compatibility matrix 2288Hv5-12 and 2x10G switches for interconnection. Each server has M.2 SSD drives for OS installation configured in RAID 1, while the rest of the disks (SSD of 1.92TB) are in JBOD mode, since that there are 2 RAID cards, one for M.2 and the other for SSD drives respectively. Virtual drive has status OK. During installation process, we receive error message that says the following: “INFO Performing firmware checks for platform Huawei 2288HV5-12 WARNING Some error occurred during firmware checks. This can be due to some unsupported hardware. Please report this to foundation team.” Final error message is: Unable to find SSD in node. Please, help us resolve this issue in form o

I completed an AOS upgrade from 220.127.116.11 to 5.10.8 on two different clusters. On one cluster I have the health page showing a warning symbol (no data) and the message: “An error has occurred. Show me why” When I role over “Show me why” I see the message “java.lang.NullPointerException”. I have a ticket open with Nutanix but haven’t received any solutions that have worked yet. Appreciate help if someone knows how to resolve.
Trying to find the best procedure for the following. Had 36 nodes. Imaged all with foundation and IP'd in a standalone environment with private IP's on a basic switch, in an effort to image them all with ESXi at one time. No datastores were created yet using that process. Had to split up those 36 imaged nodes to move to 4 separate networks to create 4 separate clusters (9 nodes each). EAch network is completely isolated from the others, and not connected the internet. Started with one block (4 nodes) -- moved to new network, manually re-IP'd everything for that one block to have valid Network1 IPs. Now I am wanting to move the other 2 blocks to this first network. Am I forced to do a manual re-IP of each node now, after having used foundation to IP them in the beginning with private IP's? Prism cannot see (discover) the new nodes (via IPv6) after connecting them up to the same network. And the re-IP IPv6 cluster_init page is not reachable, . Just wondering if there is a way to b
After a failed upgrade that resulted in a failed node, we reinstalled the node and added it as a remote site so we could migrate to it and reinstall the other nodes. When I added the site on the old cluster it works as expected, but on the reinstalled node I cant add any vStore Mappings and are instead greeted with this message "Remote Datastores are either not configured or not accessible." When I run ncli> remote-site list on the reinstalled node I get: Status : unreachable and on the old cluster: Status : relationship established Is there any log output/command that could help me troubleshoot this further?
Hello everyone, I was wondering if it's possible to have different VLANs ID/Subnet range for each of the different traffic type bellow: - Hypervisor Management (ESXi) - Nutanix Cluster administration - Nutanix Cluster replication / AutoPath And the very best would be to even have replication & AutoPath on different VLANs. The rationale here is to comply with customer internal security policies regarding DMZ virtualization. We are allowed to use VLANs and are not forced to use differents physical ports, but the security team (worldwide bank) is concerned about the ESXi & Nutanix being on the same VLAN. Sylvain.

Hello All,I have recently deployed Prism Central and I am trying to give team members access via their AD accounts. I have went through the roles and discovered I cannot add new members to the predefined roles; however, if I duplicate the roles I can add AD users and groups to the new roles. This works for me however when I duplicate a role such as the “Super Admin” role I am warned that not all permissions are going to apply to the new role and I would need to create the new role via CLI to get these permissions. Ok fine that makes some sense. But where is the documentation on how to do that? Can someone point me to the documentation to perform these role creation tasks via CLI?Thanks, Scott
HI Team under Prism we’ve created a few VM’s (windows), one of VM is our File Server, current configuration is IDE disk 1TB, (60GB OS, 900GB shared folders). probably is better to create one virtual disk 60GB on OS and the second virtual disk as storage (1TB) or more.question is how to shrink current IDE disk from 1TB → 60GB, and if IDE should be change on SCSI disk, what Nutanix recommended?instruction to shrink disk IDE->SCSIthanks Dariusz
If you are trying to install any third party software, specially Antivirus packages on Nutanix AHV hosts or Nutanix CVMs please consider the following: As for running antivirus (or any third-party software) on the CVMs and AHV hosts, this is not something that we support or can allow. The CVM should be treated as a network appliance, with access controls put in place to ensure that only authorized access is allowed, and kept up-to-date with the latest CVE patches. Installing any packages on the Nutanix CVMs is unsupported. Moreover, installing packages on the CVMs will void the support. In general, an antivirus being installed on the Nutanix CVM is not recommended as it can have ill effects on performance and cause negative impact on the stability of the system. However you can install antivirus on HYPER-V and VMware hosts, just follow these articles: KB 2360 Antivirus on Nutanix on vmware. KB 5153 Antivirus on Nutanix Hyper-V Nodes. Hello,I’ve just reimagined a block with 4 nodes (NX-1065-G4) to use in our lab using Phoenix image (created following this article https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Field-Installation-Guide-v3-12:v31-phoenix-files-r.html#reference_bbk_vnx_p4).I’m using ESXi 7.0.0 build 15843807 and NOS 5.15.2. Hypervisor and CVMs have been correctly installed (following this https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Field-Installation-Guide-v3-12:v31-node-install-cvm-t.html) but CVM does not have an IP configured. I’ve tried to configure CVM IP using “external_ip_reconfig” scripts but i get an error: How can i configure CVMs’ IP?Note: i’ve used Phoneix because Foundation failed several times with a “dependencies” error. Thanks, kind regards
What is the hardware requirement for creating single or two node cluster or is there some particular model that support single or two node cluster deployment. I have nodes from Lenovo, model HX3720. Can I deploy single or two node cluster on this hardware? Thanks.
Only applies to AOS 5.15 and earlier versionsShould you wish to add NIC cards to your nodes there are several steps to follow to ensure that the process is successful. Verify that NIC card model is compatible with the hardware. In case of an NX platform the best way would be to contact Nutanix account team. Look for the documentation describing the process. Nutanix portal has a Hardware replacement section for instructions on all hardware component replacements for all NX platforms. Once the card is automatically detected the bond and uplinks configuration must be updated using manage_ovs command from CVM. Hello Everybody,Hope you’re all doing well !I want to install Nutanix using Foundation.I have 3 Lenovo nodes and one Cisco 2960X switch that consists of 24 x 1 Gig RJ45 ports and 04 x 1 Gig SFP ports.Unlike Supermicro nodes, Lenovo nodes do not have Shared IPMI ports. So, for each Lenovo node, I have to connect 01 x 10 Gig port and 01 GbE IPMI Port to the same CISCO 2960X switch (10 Gig ports of the nodes connected to 1 Gig SFP ports of the switch and 1Gig IPMI ports to the 1 Gig RJ45 ports ).Please take a look of the picture below…Since 10 Gig ports of the nodes are connected to 1Gig ports of the switch, I wonder if this architecture can allow me to install nutanix and create the cluster without any issues ? Thanks in advance.
Just implementing a new cluster and I've ran foundation with NOS18.104.22.168 and ESX 6. The ESXi hosts have not yet been connected to vCenter. One of the post image steps is to set the correct time zone for the cluster. It says that each CVM needs to be shutdown in Serial. Is this a simple case of connecting to a each ESXi host and shutting down the CVM, Power it back on, connect to the CVM, via http://cvmip to check that it is up, then move on to the next ESXi host and repeat? Thanks Chris
Hello, I’m trying to configure two AHV clusters (3 nodes) for replication. Both environments are running AOS 5.11.2 on HPE DX360 Gen10. The network environment is spread between two stacks: one stack dedicated to the storage with 10Gb interfaces and one stack for the LAN with 1Gb interfaces. There is no connection between these two networks. After the deployment of the nodes and the configuration of the clusters, I start to configure the Backplane Network with the following parameter: Subnet: 172.16.250.0 Netmask: 255.255.255.0 VLAN: 202 Host node: br1 The backplane network of the first cluster works without any problem. When I do the same (with the same) for the second cluster, it fails. It says that the IPs addresses are already in use. I would like to specify a VLAN/subnet where both clusters have their backplane IPs so I can use the backplane network for the replication between both clusters. I hope this is clear. Kind regards, Fred

I'm will be configuring Network Segmentation on my Nutanix Cluster as per these instructions. https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/docs/details?targetId=Web-Console-Guide-Prism-v510:wc-network-segment-on-existing-cluster-wc-t.html The VLAN that I put my backplane traffic on, does it matter or not if I have a Gateway for that VLAN? I would use 172.16.10.0 as the Subnet IP and 255.255.255.0 as the Netmask. I am planning on having a Gateway of 172.16.10.1 on the firewall. Currently, the default configuration without network segmentation, the management and backplane traffic on eth0 has a gateway so as far as I can tell, everything should still work if I have a gateway for backplane traffic. Could someone please confirm that it doesn’t matter if I have a gateway on the backplane VLAN or not?
