Unable to Uninstall VMtools on VM

I’m trying to uninstall VMware tools from VMs running on AHV version 20201105.2244. I am following the KB to uninstall VMware tools: Unable to Uninstall VMware Tools in Windows after Migration by Move from ESXi to AHVI mount the ISO in windows on the VM and run the ‘setup64.exe /c’ command and immediately notice EventID 1000 and 1005 in the application logs. They are application errors not being able to launch the VMware installer process. I have tried this on two separate VMs on different clusters. Change AHV Host MTU for Jumbo Frames

What is Jumbo frames? In computer networking, jumbo frames are Ethernet frames with more than 1500 bytes of payload, the limit set by the IEEE 802.3 standard. Jumbo frames can carry up to 9000 bytes of payload. When should jumbo frames be used? Use jumbo frames only when you have a dedicated network or VLAN, and you can configure an MTU of 9000 on all equipment to increase performance. A good general example of this approach is a separate SAN or storage network. How to check your current MTU status? Run this command on one of your CVMs “NCC Health Check: cvm_mtu_check”. The command checks: On Hyper-V, validates if the MTU size is properly defined for eth0 and eth1 on the Controller VM On AHV, ESXi and Hyper-V, ensures the CVMs can communicate via eth0 with their configured MTU without upstream network fragmentation. Nutanix CE installation issue.

Hi All, I did use Nutanix CE on a standalone server before for testing and for backup recovery test. Today I was trying to install the new CE version ce-2018.05.01-Stable. The previous version I used was CE0-2017.05.22-Stable. Now the hardware is same. 1x 240 GB SSD, 2x 500 GB HDD, 3x 1TB HDD. 128 GB RAM Boot from USB. 3x 1 TB drives are in Raid0 - Storage 2x 500 GB drives are in Raid0 - ISO's 1x 240 GB drive is in Raid0 - OS - (I tried this with Raid and with out raid.) this time when it is checking the disks it says "MinimumRequirementsError: A set of disks matching the minimum requirements was not found" is there any changes to the minimum hardware requirements with new version of CE? NIC Configuration - No Uplinks

Kernel Panic not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown block(0,0)

Has anyone else had an issue with installing the lated CE image on esxi7? It seems to shutdown after the hypervisor is created and begins the startup. After you reboot and attempt to run it in regular mode I get this message: If I go into safe mode I get the login prompt with the host name configured: I performed a “virsh list --all” in safe mode to get the following: When is attempt to start the vm in safe mode, the host machine shuts down: Any Ideas?

AHV VM High Availability (HA) is a feature built to ensure VM availability in the event of a host or block outage. In the event of a host failure the VMs previously running on that host will be restarted on other healthy nodes throughout the cluster. The Acropolis Master is responsible for restarting the VM(s) on the healthy host(s). But we already know that, right? Nutanix Move: How to add second NIC to Move VM

While it is not as a straightforward process as we would like for it to be there is an option to add a NIC to your Move VM. Login to Prism Element Add New NIC to the Nutanix-Move appliance and select the network Launch the console of Nutanix Move appliance. Switch to root user Use vi editor or any other editor of your choice to open the file /etc/network/interfaces Add the second interface eth1 configuration in the format below based on DHCP/Static IP addressing. Restart the networking service.Please Note: If you are using Move 3.0.3 or above you can skip Step-7 and Step-8. That'll be taken care automatically. There will be an existing script named "start-xtract" under "/opt/xtract/bin". Overwrite that script with the one provided in the KB (see link below). Change the permissions for the script. Re-Image Cluster with Phoenix

Hello,I’ve just reimagined a block with 4 nodes (NX-1065-G4) to use in our lab using Phoenix image (created following this article https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Field-Installation-Guide-v3-12:v31-phoenix-files-r.html#reference_bbk_vnx_p4).I’m using ESXi 7.0.0 build 15843807 and NOS 5.15.2. Hypervisor and CVMs have been correctly installed (following this https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Field-Installation-Guide-v3-12:v31-node-install-cvm-t.html) but CVM does not have an IP configured. I’ve tried to configure CVM IP using “external_ip_reconfig” scripts but i get an error: How can i configure CVMs’ IP?Note: i’ve used Phoneix because Foundation failed several times with a “dependencies” error.Thanks, kind regards

How to install new NIC card to an AHV cluster

Only applies to AOS 5.15 and earlier versionsShould you wish to add NIC cards to your nodes there are several steps to follow to ensure that the process is successful. Verify that NIC card model is compatible with the hardware. In case of an NX platform the best way would be to contact Nutanix account team. Look for the documentation describing the process. Nutanix portal has a Hardware replacement section for instructions on all hardware component replacements for all NX platforms. Once the card is automatically detected the bond and uplinks configuration must be updated using manage_ovs command from CVM. NGT Series | Regenerating NGT Certificates

Remote syslog server

Syslog or ‘System Logging Protocol’ is used by routers, switches, access points, servers and of course Nutanix. It is used to send events and logs to a remote syslog server that collects, organizes and filters these logs. In Nutanix, we provide different log modules for the core services that can be enabled separately and you can configure the logging level required for them as well. For example, if you wish to forward just the warning log messages for Acropolis, this would be the command: ncli rsyslog-config add-module server-name=<server_name> module-name=ACROPOLIS level=WARNING For a more comprehensive look at the various modules and log levels, check out syslog server. Metro Availability Witness Option

You have the option of adding a Witness to a Metro Availability configuration (see Data Protection Guidelines (Metro Availability)). A "Witness" is a special VM that monitors the Metro Availability configuration health. The Witness resides in a separate failure domain to provide an outside view that can distinguish a site failure from a network interruption between the Metro Availability sites. I have 3 nodes in it and I am wondering how many certificates should I request. 1 single certificate for the entire cluster (The CSR will be generated using the Leader, but what is going to happen if the leader changes) or should I request 3 certificates (one for each cvm) ?
