Has anyone else had an issue with installing the lated CE image on esxi7? It seems to shutdown after the hypervisor is created and begins the startup. After you reboot and attempt to run it in regular mode I get this message: If I go into safe mode I get the login prompt with the host name configured: I performed a “virsh list --all” in safe mode to get the following: When is attempt to start the vm in safe mode, the host machine shuts down: Any Ideas?

Hi all - we have HUGE problems in Denmark with setting the correct Daylight savings in AHV A clock / time settings apprently not just an option in AHV.. We found that we neede to set this in Windows guests to get the clock correct - otherwise it was 2 hours wrong reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetControlTimeZoneInformation" /v RealTimeIsUniversal /d 1 /t REG_DWORD /f Now when we have shifted to winter time CET instead of CEST and we shutdown the VM's the clock is 1 hour wrong!! What is the 100% correct way to handle time on AHV? I have never had issues on VMware, HyperV or Xen with this basic stuff.. :-( If anyone could lead me to a KB or something about this issue?
The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) enables administrators to monitor network-attached devices for conditions that warrant administrative attention. In the Nutanix SNMP implementation, information about entities in the cluster is collected and made available through the Nutanix MIB (NUTANIX-MIB.txt). The Nutanix enterprise tree is located at 18.104.22.168.4.1.41263.The Nutanix MIB is divided into the following sections:Cluster information. Status information about the cluster as a whole. Software version information. Version information about the software packages that comprise the Controller VM. Service status information. Information about the status of essential services on each Controller VM. Hypervisor information. Information about each hypervisor instance. Virtual machine information. Information about hosted virtual machines. Disk information. Status information about the disks in the cluster. Controller VM resource information. Indicate how much CPU and memory capacity is
We would really like to use the distributed switch in VMware cluster. There seems to be a lack of documentation on how to properly implement it with Nutanix. For example I seem to remember that the Nutanix controller VM’s should not be moved from their installed switch and they have to be able to talk to vSphere and or the ESXi hosts. But if I want to put vSphere and the ESXi hosts into the dvSwitch and how do I do this? I might not be wording this question correctly, but one of the goals would be to have traffic separated by VLAN and protected by QOS where necessary. Is there documentation on how to do this correctly in a Nutanix environment? Has anyone tried to do this?
What is Jumbo frames? In computer networking, jumbo frames are Ethernet frames with more than 1500 bytes of payload, the limit set by the IEEE 802.3 standard. Jumbo frames can carry up to 9000 bytes of payload. When should jumbo frames be used? Use jumbo frames only when you have a dedicated network or VLAN, and you can configure an MTU of 9000 on all equipment to increase performance. A good general example of this approach is a separate SAN or storage network. How to check your current MTU status? Run this command on one of your CVMs “NCC Health Check: cvm_mtu_check”. The command checks: On Hyper-V, validates if the MTU size is properly defined for eth0 and eth1 on the Controller VM On AHV, ESXi and Hyper-V, ensures the CVMs can communicate via eth0 with their configured MTU without upstream network fragmentation. For more information about this check, take a look at this article. How to Change AHV Host MTU for Jumbo Frames? Check out this KB that explains the preparation and
Hi, Can anyone help me find a way to stop the creation of a remote site. I was told it would take around 10-15 minutes, but so far after 3 hours it is still running at 0%! There is probably some configuration issues on the network, so I would like to fix that up first and try again. For the life of me, however, I cannot find how to stop the task. Regards, Nick
Have multiple Windows VMs running in your environment and want to install Nutanix Guest Tools silently in the Windows VM?You can absolutely do it with a little help from Nutanix and the power of automation scriptsSo how can you achieve this? There are two methods If you are a nerd techy, you can write a custom script using silent installer package. If writing scripts giving you chills, we still have a procedure to install NGT silently with reduced clicks.Procedure Go to command prompt and browse to the drive where NGT is mounted Execute the following command drive:\> setup.exe /quiet ACCEPTEULA=yes /norestart Use this command to ensure that VMs are not restarted after installing NGT. Note that if you use this command driver will not be updated. You need to manually restart the VMs to update the drivers. drive:\> setup.exe /quiet ACCEPTEULA=yes If you use this command, VMs are restarted and drivers are automatically updated.Want to see the logs?In Event Viewer and in the %TEMP%

In Nutanix clusters running AHV hypervisors, we can use the LLDP protocol to find more details about the directly connected switches. LLDP needs to be enabled in the switches for the details to be seen in the AHV hosts. We are using Nutanix ( AOS 22.214.171.124) with AHV-Hypervisor. Connecting to a VM(W2K12,W2K8, German) via Prim & VNC-Console there is no possibility to change Keyboard-Layout. Our Computers are on Win7 - German with German QWERTZ - Keyboard Layout. No matter which Browser we are using (IE11, Chrome, Firefox) we can not type special characters like \ / . We also tried the American Key for / \ without success. Is there a posibility to fix this Problem? Or is it a Bug ? Looking forward to hear your comments: F.Hil
Hello, I have a cluster up and running for almost a year now without any particular issues. I haven't logged into Prism for a long time and did so recent, and saw an alert on hat the cluster is not able to check NTP. I have them set for North American NTP servers. I think the real problem may be with Zeus, however, as when I SSH into one of the CVMs and almost any command (bur speciifally 'allssh firstname.lastname@example.org date') I get: ================== error: ================= ================== Zeus ================= ================== configuration ================= ================== cache ================= ================== is ================= ================== not ================= ================== created; ================= ================== try ================= ================== again ================= ================== later ================= It is the same with any other command I try to run. Your insight is greatly appreciated.
Team, I would like to install SSL Certificate for my cluster. I have 3 nodes in it and I am wondering how many certificates should I request. 1 single certificate for the entire cluster (The CSR will be generated using the Leader, but what is going to happen if the leader changes) or should I request 3 certificates (one for each cvm) ? Many thanks in advance, Regards, Thibaut
Hi all, today I wanted to upgrade NOS on one of our clusters from 4.1.x to 4.6.3 which worked perfectly fine for another cluster. The first CVM was updated successfully but the next CVM Update failed. (Maybe due to connectivity issues to the host.) upgrade_status says, that the node is upgrading right now, but in fact the CVM is powered off and won't boot. After it displays the following information it reboots fails again and after the second reboot it stays shut down. Is there a simple fix for this or do I have to open a support ticket? EDIT: it seems like the update process tried to shut down this cvm but got a timeout and now the update is somehow stuck. Can I somehow restart the upgrade process or manually update this CVM? Thank you.
A traditional Nutanix cluster requires a minimum of three nodes, but Nutanix also offers the option of a one-node or two-node cluster for ROBO implementation. Both of these have a minimum requirement for the CVM to be allocated with 6 vCPUs and 20 GB memory.Specifically for two-node, there have been several improvements in 5.10 to ensure optimal health of the cluster.Customers should upgrade to a minimum version of AOS 5.10.7 to avoid encountering any of the potential service impacting issues present in earlier releases of AOS.The table provides a summary of improvements in the document here-https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/kbs/details?targetId=kA00e0000009DaXCAUMore information about two node cluster can be found out -https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Web-Console-Guide-Prism-v5_18:wc-cluster-two-node-c.htmlROBO implementation meaning - Short for remote office, branch office ROBO is a term used to refer to any off-site office that connects to the organ
Hi, We have a Windows 2012R2 HyperV host with about 8 Windows 2008R2 VMs. These VMs are Gen1 using .vhdx as the file system. I'm currently running Ntnx 4.7.4 and was wondering the following:

Does the image service import .vhdx files or do I need to use qemu-image ?
If I use something like Starwind V2V converter, it supports QCOW2 and RAW, is there a preferred Ntnx format ? (Image inserted below)
Does the SMB version on the CVM have unique specifications ? I was trying to use Storagecraft Shadowprotect Recovery options (Linux based) but it would see the UNC?
Thanks in Advance, G

Hi,Ｉ plan expanding cluster to add 3 nodes that model are XC640 and hypervisor is ESXi 6.7 U2.Cluster’s AOS versio is 5.10.6 LTS but additional node’s 5.16STS.I cannot add nodes...Can I anything to do additional nodes? And Do you know how to recreate CVM on new nodes?
Hello. I am trying to connect to the /iso/ folder to clean up some of the old versions. I also connected some VMware Datastores that I should probably do some housekeeping as well. I connect to the cluster primary IP 192.168.1.100 and get access denied. It's the same nutanix username & password I use for SSH which works fine. I'm looking for some advice. My company recently purchased a used 3460-G4. We're a professional services firm and we want to have it for our lab so we can stand up stuff like ERA, CALM, etc. and bang around on it. You know, lab stuff! We have been trying to Foundation (126.96.36.199 & 188.8.131.52) the block but I am running into a problem with Foundation failing when trying to mount the Phoenix image on the nodes. Here's how things currently stand:BIOS has been upgraded to latest recommended version on Nutanix Support site. The RAM is confirmed to be compatible according to SuperMicro's site. The Motherboard is the X10DRT-P from SuperMicro.IPMI has been set on each node and I can log into the IPMI mgmt page.At first I was wo
Hello, We have an 5.1 AOS cluster (EOL I know), we wish to upgrade to latest possible LTS (which seems to be 5.5.8). The ncc is clean but the preupgrade fails at 3°% claiming a zookeeper is not reponding on one of the CVMs. But allssh genesis status | grep zookeeper zookeeper: [3967, 3996, 3997, 4003] Connection to @1 closed. zookeeper: [3899, 3928, 3929, 24979, 25089, 25105] Connection to @2 closed. zookeeper: [3919, 3948, 3949, 7259, 7365, 7380] Connection to @3 closed. zookeeper: [3923, 3952, 3953, 7709, 8032, 8047] Connection to @4 closed. And
ncc health_checks system_checks zkinfo_check_plugin
runs normally. What could be the issue? Thank you
