I just upgraded our Prism Central to version 5.7.1 and noticed that the widget with the banana-holding monkey never changes when we get an alert from one of our managed clusters. I removed and re-added the widget from the PC console but it still never updates when we receive an new alert. Grated, this is not very important but has anyone else seen this issue?
You have a nice OVF or an OVA image and you are ready to deploy that virtual appliance to AHV. There is just one more step required. Well, maybe more than one. It is not possible to import OVA and OVF files to AHV. Extraction of the files of the image as well as upload of the VMDK files is required prior to deployment. Please follow instructions provided in KB-3621 AHV: Import OVA and OVF image
Attempting to upgrade AOS from 184.108.40.206 to 220.127.116.11, but the preupgrade steps fails after 5% and the reason for failure isn’t displayed. Is there somewhere I can go to get some details about why the preupgrade keeps failing at 5%? This is what is displayed after the failure: Thank you.
When trying to use the allssh "manage_ovs ...." I get the above error. As I understand it Zeus and Zookeeper are close friends(as one would expect). Zookeeper implements the cluster configuration information while Zeus is used by other cluster components to access it? Somewhere I read that when you manually add a new node to a cluster Zookeeper on that new node is not active? Any information would be appreciated (even rabbit holes). thx.
Should you see message similar to “Third-party backup snapshots are present in the cluster longer than the configured threshold.” and wonder where it comes from keep on reading — you’re in for a treat! The NCC health check aged_third_party_backup_snapshot_check checks the cluster for dangling third-party backup snapshots that may be present for a protection domain. If a third-party backup snapshot has existed in the system for longer than the specified period, this check will raise an alert. These backup snapshots are snapshots that are generated from 3rd party backups (Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, HYCU, etc.).The check passes if third-party backup snapshots are not present in the cluster longer than the configured threshold. The default threshold is 7 days, but this threshold value can be modified. The threshold can range from 1 day to 365 days.Administrators may specify how long a third-party snapshot is expected to be present in the cluster through Prism UI. This check is based on the b
Hello, I’m trying to configure two AHV clusters (3 nodes) for replication. Both environments are running AOS 5.11.2 on HPE DX360 Gen10. The network environment is spread between two stacks: one stack dedicated to the storage with 10Gb interfaces and one stack for the LAN with 1Gb interfaces. There is no connection between these two networks. After the deployment of the nodes and the configuration of the clusters, I start to configure the Backplane Network with the following parameter: Subnet: 172.16.250.0 Netmask: 255.255.255.0 VLAN: 202 Host node: br1 The backplane network of the first cluster works without any problem. When I do the same (with the same) for the second cluster, it fails. It says that the IPs addresses are already in use. I would like to specify a VLAN/subnet where both clusters have their backplane IPs so I can use the backplane network for the replication between both clusters. I hope this is clear. Kind regards, Fred
Is there a KB or documentation providing the JSON format and any additional things that may be coded in? For example, in going through the install.nutanix.com portal to generate the JSON file it doesn't ask for NTP server of the hypervisor. In looking at the file, though, there's this line: "hypervisor_nameserver": "18.104.22.168", I'd like to have our Nutanix deployments in code as much as possible (right now we're looking to various scripts for vSphere configurations). Being able to configure as much as possible up front and possibly make this a template for future deployments.
I have a cluster running on an NX-3060-G5 with XenServer hypervisor that I want to completely rebuild on Acropolis. I’m looking for documentation on how to do this. Our original cluster was built by a Nutanix engineer onsite and I recall he had to install the foundation software on another machine, but I don’t recall all of the steps he took. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Hi guys ! I'm planning to deploy a metro cluster for my current customer and I have some troubles finding a precise guide to Network Metro Witness configuration. I know that it should be 200 ms RTT at max but that's it ? Will I be able to configure a L3 network or do I need to extend my L2 HCI network to the third site ? If L3 is an option (well hope so...) then what /where and how should I configure my clusters to communicate with witness ? Do someone have some info on this or should I open a support ticket ? best regards ! Thomas
We are trying to setup SCOM Management Pack 2.4 with SCOM 2012 server. I have created LDAP (Windows Domain) account for Prism and IPMI access, i do able to validate with prism account but i could not IPMI. I am using AOS 10.5 with NX 1065 G6.

I have tried to create IPMI local account and then tried to validate SCOM Management pack. It worked fine.
I tried to validate with LDAP account but i am getting below error. for better administration i am trying to use LDAP.
error validating ipmi account with "x.x.x.x" IP. Continue with next CVM Address? I have opened case with Nutanix. Just i want know whether Nutanix support to configure LDAP auth with SCOM. Any help will be much appreciated.
Hello, I am trying to add one new node in my existing Dell Nutanix cluster, we use Dell XC Servers but due to some reason, I don't want Dell to be added as a new node so 4th node would be Nutanix powered hardware ..would that work? How about hardware compatibility ? especially for the processor.
Howdy, I’ve searched through all corners of the web, but still didn’t find a clear answer to this question: can Nutanix prioritize packets and/or traffic in OVS? And, if yes, is there some online how-to that I can refer to to learn how to do that? Thanks in advance,
I have setup Nutanix CE in a lab environment but I cannot get to the Prism page when browsing to the CVM IP address. I'm getting the message: Prism services have not started yet. Please try again later. Although I have run cluster status and the Prism service is up and running: It is a single node setup on VMWare. I can ping the CVM IP and SSH onto the CVM. Any assistance would be gratefully received! Thanks.
Hi A remote site on AWS has been configured earlier. The time sync drifted too far but that has been fixed. The remote site in Data Protection has this alert "Remote site connectivity not normal." It is an AWS instance. The remote CVM IP address is 10.162.10.115. The host ipaddress is unknown, the firewall rules are fully open and replication seems to be occuring. There is a site to site VPN specificaly for this instance It looks as though the aWS remote site was never configured with the local cluster as a remote site which is what most of the webinars and documentation suggest. The IP address will not open a web page on http or https, the only communication available to the AWS node is SSH. How does the configurationof the remote site get completed or how do I get rid of this alert ?? Prisim: 5.6.1 NCC Version: 3.5.2 LCM Version: 1.4.2381 Nutanix 20170830.124 (in cluster, standard AWS instance) Thanks
Hello I am attempting to upgrade a Hyper-v 2012 R2 Cluster to 2016. I've completed the necessary Kerberos settings, however I am receiving an error during the pre-upgrade check "Non-Standard Network Settings, cannot proceed with hypervisor upgrade" This makes me sad :sleepy: the KB number referenced does not exist so I'm a bit of a loss on what to do next. Is there anyway to find out what it thinks the non-standard settings are - or perhaps work out what it think standard should be? TIA Dave
Hi All, I did use Nutanix CE on a standalone server before for testing and for backup recovery test. Today I was trying to install the new CE version ce-2018.05.01-Stable. The previous version I used was CE0-2017.05.22-Stable. Now the hardware is same. 1x 240 GB SSD, 2x 500 GB HDD, 3x 1TB HDD. 128 GB RAM Boot from USB. 3x 1 TB drives are in Raid0 - Storage 2x 500 GB drives are in Raid0 - ISO's 1x 240 GB drive is in Raid0 - OS - (I tried this with Raid and with out raid.) this time when it is checking the disks it says "MinimumRequirementsError: A set of disks matching the minimum requirements was not found" is there any changes to the minimum hardware requirements with new version of CE? Please help me with this. Thank you, Krishna
Sorry if this topic has already been covered. I have been trying to use the new "Portable Foundation" app that runs on windows to image a cluster without using a VM. Every time I try (three so far) I get errors that the IPs I have provided are already used. I am using a flat switch and the 10G and 1G are unplugged from the customers switches. I have tried with my laptop in and out of airplane mode, with the firewall on and off and still receive the errors. The only difference is that each time I try, the listed IP conflicts are never the same. It will tell me in the first try that x, y, and z are in use, then the second time it may say that a, b, and y are in use. Any ideas? I really like the idea of this app working. Thanks, -David
Hi everyone, I m new to Nutanix and have just deployed my first cluster. I did all the updates I could find in Upgrade Software Settings. It brought the nodes up to 22.214.171.124 . I tried to run the checks again and it shows no available versions. I saw the notice for the release of 5.16 so I downloaded the manual update binary file and meta file. When I try to update it says unsupported. Edit: NOT SUPPORTED Current version was released after the Target version was released. Upgrading to Target Release version is not supported in this case. I check the support upgrade path wizard in My Nutanix and it says the 126.96.36.199 is newer then the 5.16 yet they were released the same day!? The Upgrade path shows that if I had the 5.11.2 I could update to 5.16 but not 188.8.131.52 ?? Will Nutanix have an update path for this? or am I stuck for a while? thanks everyone. Scott
I am reimaging my lab cluster after we had some serious problems with a conversion to AHV and rollback to ESXi. 2 of my 3 nodes reimaged fine, once I put a /firstboot directory in to the existing ESXi hosts. My 3rd node is losing track of where the firstboot directory would be. Hi there, I am new with Nutanix and I have a doubt about Acropolis licensing. We have 3 nutanix nodes with Acropolis Start Edition installed. Yesterday, my PRISM console report a License Feature Violation. Looking at https://www.nutanix.com/products/software-options , the only thing that I saw that could be wrong in my configuration was a Volume Group created for a test. Just to be sure, in an Acropolis Start Edition can we create volume groups or this option should only be used in PRO and ULTIMATE editions? The alert don’t give me more information about which feature is violating the license. Thanks in advance for the help! BR, Thelmo
