Erasure Coding while RF2 enabled

Erasure coding is a data protection method that breaks data into pieces, adding redundancy for fault tolerance and data recovery. When we enabled RF2 on the cluster that copies data in two different nodes for fault tolerance, should I use erasure coding on the cluster? what is the benefit?

Erasure coding should only be enabled to specific workloads like:

  • Write once, read many (WORM) workloads;
  • Backups;
  • Archives;
  • File servers;
  • Log servers;

Ive created a blogpost about it some time ago: https://www.jeroentielen.nl/nutanix-erasure-coding-example/
