Question

After Install - Next Steps

Evening,

I’ve created a cluster with four nodes using the Nutanix Community Edition. Does anyone have a quick cheat sheet on updating everything. This is my second go around, and the last time, everything updated, but Prism stopped responding even after I updated. Do I need to upgrade Prism First? what’s the difference between Prism that comes after the install and Prism Central?

Any suggestions on steps to updating everything before I start creating Virtual Machines would be helpful.

Thanks, James

CE can be a little unpredictable when performing upgrades.

My general process when performing upgrades is based on the recommend upgrade pathway from Nutanix.

Here is the recommended workflow from Nutanix, in short it PC → AOS → AHV → Firmware

hi,

if you mean for upgrade of nutanix cores,
First update everything in the cluster (just go to LCM), do an inventory and then update everything except the AOS.and AHV
once they are done, do upgrade AOS, and AHV but there is a gatcha for version of AHV, do not upgrade to AHV version 10.3 and above , so stay below this version as there is an issue with it
once the above is done, install the latest prism central.
for the question related to what is the different between them,
Prism:you will be able to manage cluster (and only that single cluster) from this single pane of access
PC:you will be able to manage cluster)and other clusters )from a single pane of access plus, you can deploy and use many other features such as , flow network, flow security, object,DR orchestration and many more
