Hello fellas

I have 5 clusters where 3 of them are ESXI and running AOS 5.20.4.6 (it seems dead end for now to any further upgrades)

and 2 of then AHV running AOS 5.20.0.1(choices are to move on to either 5.20.4.6 or something like 6.x)

Just looking for experts opinion to choose right version..

As of now, I'm planning to let it upgrade to 5.20.4.6 to keep all clusters at same version.

What you say...?

I think you should firstly be looking at what can I upgrade to - what version of hardware, esxi and ahv am I running, what features an I using and are they impacted. Check the support matrixes and release notes to ensure  compatibility and upgrade path.

Best practice is to stay on the LTS train (as you are already). And I always keep different clusters on the same version. But that's all up to you. On this page, you can find the supported versions for your hardware etc https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/compatibility-interoperability-matrix (support portal login required).

Thanks, @SiW

it gave me a good idea to create a checklist matrix and verify each one by one, specially applications incompatibilities for example backup system (Commvault).. Now I am good to go with 5.20.4.6 as other clusters are on the same version.

I went through the link and verified incompatibilities and came across to go with 5.20.4.6 to be in LTS and be in same frame of other clusters.

AOS 6.5 is now LTS as below:

It’s recommended to maintain the same version for all clusters to the latest LTS version which is 6.5, however you have to check for Hardware and software compatibility.
