I have a nutanix environment Running well and it is an OT Production environment. Due to some reason I want to change the Cluster Name, so before changing, I have a doubt that will cluster name change impact the virtual machine and its operation? and do I need to reboot the cluster when the cluster name is changed to new.

This will depend on what services you have running in the cluster.

Is this a standalone PE or is it connected to a PC?

Renaming is a supported function, but what sort of behaviour you will observe will depend on what’s running on that cluster.

Thank you sir for response.

Is this a standalone PE or is it connected to a PC? --- IT is connected to PC

Is this a license version of Nutanix or the Community Edition?.

If you are concerned about the rename having an impact and I don’t think it will, I’ve never had anything break when I’ve renamed a cluster. You can always raise a ticket with support and them them guide you through the process and run checks afterwards

I have renamed multiple clusters without issues. This just works and has no impact on the running virtual machines and not on the connected pc. In pc you will see the name change as well.

Only things is you backup solution. I think it was commvault that saw a new cluster. But that was years ago, maybe they fixxed that to look at the uuid instead of name ;)

Anyways, yes rename it.
