Currently we are running VM’s workload in VXRail VMware, these VM’s replicating to Azure cloud using recovery vault.

Now these VM’s migrating to Nutanix native AHV environment.

Please advise how to replicate VM’s from Nutanix to Azure cloud using which tool,

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Anand_K

please have a look at the Nutanic Cloud Cluster (NC2) on Azure. With having a NC2 Deployment on Azure you can replicate VMs to Azure by defining your individual Protection Policies and Recovery Plans in Prism Central.

If you want to learn more I have created this link to a Nutanix Test Drive where you will click through Provisioning NC2 on Azure, Cluster Configuration, Setting up the Layer 2 Network Stretch and final the Nutanix DR. Hope this practical approach will give you a good insight:

Of course in the Portal my.nutanix.com there is official documentation and Demo Videos on YouTube but I think the Click Demo is the quickest way to get an insight.

Hi @swischer,

Thanks for your update.

Is it additional license (or) components to be installed from Nutanix / azure for this replication.

Hi @Anand_K

as NC2 are Baremetal nodes on Azure you need the nodes to be licensed like your OnPrem nodes in addition to the Ressource costs to Azure. Here is an overview of the available nodes types and amount of cores which is important to know for licensing:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/baremetal-infrastructure/workloads/nc2-on-azure/available-regions-skus

Also have a look here where the need of Adv. Replication license has been discussed:

If you just want to replicate the data to Azure you can also leverage Multicloud Snapshot Technology (MST). The difference is that you don‘t need to deploy and pay for the NC2 Baremetal Nodes before you want to recover. You just replicate the data and when needed you have to plan more time to bring up NC2 based cluster on Azure first and than recover the data of the VMs to the cluster - compared to directly being able to boot the VMs.

here is the official documentation for MST:
