Hey folks!

Excited to share one of the latest MongoDB capabilities now available in Nutanix Database Service (NDB) 2.11 -- online scale-out for MongoDB sharded clusters.

As MongoDB deployments grow, adding capacity shouldn't require hours of manual coordination across infrastructure, MongoDB topology, backup tooling and Ops Manager.
NDB now automates this end-to-end process, with minimal operational effort while keeping backup protection aligned with the updated topology. With MongoDB sharded cluster scale-out in NDB, you can:

  • Add more MongoDB shards and mongos independently on a live cluster
  • Provision new infrastructure and integrate it into the cluster through a simple two-step, Create → Add workflow
  • Continue to benefit from Time Machine protection, snapshots, and Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR) as shards are added
  • Safely orchestrate infrastructure provisioning and topology updates across Nutanix infrastructure, MongoDB Ops Manager, and MongoDB
  • Reduce operational complexity with built-in validation and automated workflow orchestration
