Hey Community 👋
NC2 on Google Cloud is officially here — and it’s bringing the Nutanix Cloud Platform (NCP) to Google Cloud’s bare metal compute instances across the globe. This will not only enable organizations to build a hybrid cloud with another Hyperscaler, but it will also allow IT teams to consume Nutanix software through the Google Marketplace and accelerate their use of Google’s market leading AI and big data solutions.
🧭 What’s New?
● Google Cloud is now available in the NC2 Portal: Simply connect to your Google Cloud Project and provision a cluster, just like with AWS and Azure.
● NC2 should also be available in the Google Cloud Marketplace in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for more information on that!
● A Tech Note and User Guide are live on the support portal to help you understand how to get started.
● Move qualification: Get your NC2 migration from on premises ESXi and AHV started with Nutanix Move.
● NKP has already been qualified and is supported on NC2 on Google Cloud.
● Multiple Technology Alliance Partners have qualified their support at GA including HYCU, Cohesity, Veeam, Veritas, Citrix and Omnissa.
● NC2 on Google Cloud Test Drive is now live to show you how it works.
🔍 Under the Hood
● Z3 and C4 Google Cloud Compute Engine (GCE) bare metal instances: Qualified for NC2 use and Available 17 regions across the globe, with more coming soon.
● These are the largest bare metal nodes available for use with NC2 so they can provide a LOT of compute and storage resources.
● Flow Virtual Networking (FVN) is required but flexible Google Cloud networking and great work by Nutanix Engineering means no need for Flow Gateway (FGW) VMs.
🌍 Why Google Cloud?
It’s all about choice. The existing NC2 supported clouds are great, but they’re not always the right fit for every organization, some of whom may have developed deep relationships with Google. Google Cloud also provides market leading AI and Big Data technologies such as Vertex, and Big Query that allow organizations to rapidly innovate and transform their businesses.
And for Nutanix users? It’s familiar territory. You get the same Prism Central experience, the same AOS stack, and the same operational model — just extended into Google Cloud’s ecosystem.
If you have an on premises Nutanix cluster you have the choice to take those licenses to the cloud with NC2 (BYOL). Similarly, if your organization has an investment (Commitment Agreement, or CA) in Google Cloud, then you can choose to draw down on any unspent commitments for both the bare metal GCE instances and potentially the Nutanix software licenses though the Google Cloud Marketplace. Is that too many choices for you?
📣 Let’s Talk
