I have two upgrade options showing in my Nutanix clusters. One is for a 5.15 release and the other is for a 5.16 release. I'm currently on a 5.11.2.3 release and generally keep my clusters updated to the latest release possible. Normally I'd go to the 5.16 release and not ask this question, but I heard from someone that 5.16 might have some problems in it. Would I be safe upgrading to the 5.16 release, or would it introduce instability into my environment?

Hi Luther,

I think it really depends on your choice of approved upgrade method - Long Term Support (LTS) or Short Term Support (STS).

5.15 is part of the Long Term Support (LTS) release which has a release cycle of 12-15 months. This one contains any bug fixes and minimal new features.

5.16 is part of the Short Term Support (STS) release which has a release cycle of 3-6 months. This one contains any bug fixes and new major features.

Check out Nutanix KB5505 for more info.

Hope this helps!

Regards,

Billy

Hi Luther

I think I will go to 5.15 LTS  unless you are looking for an specific 5.16 feature.

Also please review the relese notes for both versions.
