Unable to SSH into CVM, Disk Detached | Nutanix Community

Hi experts,

I'm currently facing an issue with one of the nodes in my cluster. Recently, I noticed that a node was marked as "detached from the metadata store" in Prism, and one of its disks is also listed as detached. Prism shows the disk as "Ready to be added," but I'm unsure if the disk is healthy or needs replacement.

When attempting to SSH into the affected CVM to verify the disk's status, I found that I'm unable to access the CVM via SSH, although I can still ping it. The other CVMs in the cluster are responding normally. I tried SSHing into the problematic CVM from another CVM in the cluster, but I received a message saying it's unable to connect.

The cluster is running on an ESXi hypervisor. I also attempted to open the CVM from the Vcenter console, but nothing is displayed, the CVM doesn’t respond.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue or has any advice on troubleshooting this problem? Your guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

The symptoms you have mentioned,  seems SSD / satadom goes bad.  Please open the support case to get it sorted.

But I checked in the xclarity of this node to see whether is any events or error regarding the disk or ssd but nothing, everything is normal

what hardware is this running on I take it its lenovo?  We had a dodgey satadom and all looked well until we looked in the storage section of the IPMI but thats with NX hardware.  As suggested I’d open a ticket.

Yes it's Lenovo

I have a questions, how could we know if that is an satadomm disk or just a normal hdd, because in prism > hardware diagrame it’s shows that the first disk are marked in red “ ready to be add”,

and what if i did restart the CVM while he marked this node as note parte of the cluster ?
