I have successfully installed Nutanix Community Edition (CE) 2.1 on VMware Workstation, but I'm facing a networking issue.
Environment
Platform: VMware Workstation
Nutanix Version: Community Edition 2.1
Allocated Resources:
65 GB RAM
8 vCPUs
Installation completed successfully, and I can log in to Prism without any issues.
Problem
After logging into Prism, I checked the Network Configuration, but the Virtual Switch list is empty. Because no virtual switch is available, I'm unable to create a VM since there is no network to attach.
What I've Checked
Installation completed without any reported errors.
Prism is accessible through the management IP.
The virtual switch is not created or displayed under the networking section.
Has anyone experienced this issue with CE 2.1 running on VMware Workstation? Is there any additional configuration required after installation, or could this be related to the VMware virtual network adapter configuration?
Any guidance or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.
After successfully installing Nutanix Community Edition (CE) 2.1 and logging in to Prism, I navigated to Network Configuration. The Virtual Switch section is empty and displays "No data found." Additionally, the + Create VS option is disabled (grayed out), so I am unable to create a virtual switch.
Im able to create subnets and created 2 vlans.
+Create Subnet options allowed me to create the subnets.
That is strange. So there is actually a bridge using the two interface you have configured to the node in VMware. Maybe a glitch in the matrix ;) Have your tried turning is off and on again (restart the node).
Yes, I have already restarted the CVM and host multiple times, but the issue persists. The + Create VS option remains disabled (grayed out) in the Network Configuration page, and the Virtual Switch section continues to show "No data found."
I have also performed a clean installation of Nutanix Community Edition 2.1 more than 8 times, but the result is always the same.
On the same hardware (HP Z820 workstation), Nutanix CE 2.0 works without any issues. I was able to create virtual switches, subnets, and VMs successfully. The problem only occurs after upgrading to CE 2.1.
