I did the following steps:

downloaded and created a USB key is the below iso
created USB boot key with the following iso :phoenix.x86_64-fnd_5.6.1_patch-aos_6.8.1_ga

boot the system and filled in the configuration screen:
selecting D, I, C from the partitions listed

filled in:
host ip address
cvm ip address
subnet
gateway

I followed these directions to get a configuration running:
https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Nutanix-Community-Edition-Getting-Started-v2_1:top-cluster-config-ce-t.html

followed the minimum hardware configure
CPU - 4 (Intel VT-x or AMD-V capable and enabled)
RAM Memory - 64GB of memory
2 - SSD Drive - 500GB
6TB HDD x 4 - 24TB total - user data
Boot device/drive 250GB or greater  (AHV hypervisor loaded on the drive)
Network - 4 NICs total made up of 2x 1Gb and 2x10Gb interfaces. Another 2 built-in 1Gb NICs

when the iso installation finished installing the network does not seem to be configured.
from the console of the hosts
I can not:
ping the gw
ping the cvm

Do I need to manually configure the network interfaces?
what am I missing here?

First you have to much drives for ce. There is a max of 4 drives (not counting the ahv boot drive).

default installation will add all interfaces to the virtual switch. So if only 1 interface needs to be used disconnect the other interfaces. Then create the cluster and reconfigure the virtual switch with the correct interfaces.

You can also run crashcart before creating the cluster: https://www.jeroentielen.nl/the-nutanix-network-crashcart-a-hidden-gem/

thanks, I’ll remove the extra drives and disconnect all network interfaces but one and try the install again.

@JeroenTielen Still the same results, unplugged all the network interfaces and ran the install again and gave ip address gw subnet and when the system rebooted = no interfaces configured.

So to be clear you cannot ping the gateway when the node is installed and rebooted? (Pinging gateway from ahv console)

@JeroenTielen  Thanks for your help. Correct, from the ahv console (after reboot), when I ping the gateway, I get this error message - Network is unreachable

However from another server on the subnet, I can ping the host IP successfully but can not ssh to the ahv server with the same credentials (that I looged on from the ahv console) -  using root and psswd of nuanix/4u
