I need some help. I have a HP DL380 G& that I am attempting to install the Nutanix Community version on and I have verified the hardware. I have I 240GB SSD in slot on. I have 4 500GB hd in the next 4 slots. I have put the community version on a flash drive to install. I can boot to the USB, I can tell it to install, but it then fails with the message that it can not find any drives. I am new to your program and need a little help
Unfortunately I am also a newbie without enough experience to help resolve your issue, but just happened to be here posting a question myself. I recently successfully completed installing ce-2019.02.11-stable on an old HP DL380 G7 file server after several failed attempts. In my case, it has two Intel Xeon 6 core CPU’s, 40 Gb RAM, 128 Gb SSD on a PCI card, six 146 Gb SAS hard drives in bays 0 to 5 and a 7 year old BIOS that I was unable to update. While I believe that your use of bay 0 for the SSD is correct, in my case I had to be sure the PCI SSD was logically ahead of the hard drives in the BIOS. Once the hard drives were configured as a RAID 0 array in the HP 480i disk controller as a single logical drive, the Nutanix CE installer recognized the SSD and HDD’s natively. My final sticking point was the inability of CE to fully recognize the onboard HP Broadcom Ethernet adapters and generate the error “cannot load firmware file bnx2/bnx2-mips-mips-09-6.2.1b.fw”. While some people with far more Linux experience that myself have posted their success of locating and installing that firmware, it was much easier for me to disable the four on-board HP Broadcom Ethernet adapters and plug in an Intel Pro PCI Ethernet card. All of this finally resulted in a successful single node Nutanix CE installation for the $30 cost of the SSD PCI card, which is the kind of money I prefer to spend on a test platform. Not sure if any of this will help you short term, but lots of people posting here have eventually gotten CE to run on old HP and Dell servers with some tweaking.
