Hi all is there any guide for what ESXi version/build-number is support or unsupport about Foundation? Sometimes I need to know what version Foundation can install what version ESXi Or I only use the newest version Foundation to install older version ESXi? Does it always work? I hope there will be some information let me know when I install older ESXi on newer Nutanix using newer Foundation Some Costomers not always use the newest ESXi thanks!

Hi all, today I wanted to upgrade NOS on one of our clusters from 4.1.x to 4.6.3 which worked perfectly fine for another cluster. The first CVM was updated successfully but the next CVM Update failed. (Maybe due to connectivity issues to the host.) upgrade_status says, that the node is upgrading right now, but in fact the CVM is powered off and won't boot. After it displays the following information it reboots fails again and after the second reboot it stays shut down. Is there a simple fix for this or do I have to open a support ticket? EDIT: it seems like the update process tried to shut down this cvm but got a timeout and now the update is somehow stuck. Can I somehow restart the upgrade process or manually update this CVM? Thank you.

Hi, after upgradeing to AOS 5.5.0.7 from 5.1.3 yesterday I am getting alerts saying that "Pulse cannot connect to REST server endpoint. Connection Status: Unknown, Pulse Enabled: Unknown, Error Message: Unable to determine Pulse connectivity status to REST endpoint." When configuring Pulse it shows me connection method SMTP. Am I missing something? Just implementing a new cluster and I've ran foundation with NOS4.5.1.2 and ESX 6. The ESXi hosts have not yet been connected to vCenter. One of the post image steps is to set the correct time zone for the cluster. It says that each CVM needs to be shutdown in Serial. Is this a simple case of connecting to a each ESXi host and shutting down the CVM, Power it back on, connect to the CVM, via http://cvmip to check that it is up, then move on to the next ESXi host and repeat? After a failed upgrade that resulted in a failed node, we reinstalled the node and added it as a remote site so we could migrate to it and reinstall the other nodes. When I added the site on the old cluster it works as expected, but on the reinstalled node I cant add any vStore Mappings and are instead greeted with this message "Remote Datastores are either not configured or not accessible." When I run ncli> remote-site list on the reinstalled node I get: Status : unreachable and on the old cluster: Status : relationship established Is there any log output/command that could help me troubleshoot this further?

We are using Nutanix ( AOS 5.5.0.6) with AHV-Hypervisor. Connecting to a VM(W2K12,W2K8, German) via Prim & VNC-Console there is no possibility to change Keyboard-Layout. Our Computers are on Win7 - German with German QWERTZ - Keyboard Layout. No matter which Browser we are using (IE11, Chrome, Firefox) we can not type special characters like \ / . We also tried the American Key for / \ without success. Is there a posibility to fix this Problem? Or is it a Bug ? Looking forward to hear your comments: F.Hil

Hey Guys, I have a question: Let's say a customer needs to deploy some Oracle databases. As wel all know, licensing is expensive.. In this scenario they have a 11 node cluster. Would it be possible to have 2 nodes run on AHV with oracle whilst the remaining 9 nodes run on ESXI?(They only need 2 nodes hence they don't want to use a third node & create another cluster + They would like to benefit from erase coding.) This would cut the Oracle costs by a huge amount. Or are there any other solutions for this? Thanks in advance! Sebastiaan

Hi, I have a Huawei Switch S7706 (10G) which is used with Cisco LR/ SR SFP+ to connect devices. Wish to know the Nutanix standard DAC Cable C-CBL-5M-SFP+-SFP+ is also compatible ? Hi, I am doing some tests with creating and deleting large files in a sles12 installation on our AHV environment. I use an ext4 filesystem and have enabled the trim/discard feature for the filesystem and lvm. But when i delete a large file with random data (5g size) the storage backend of the cluster does not see that the former used storage is now not longer used. I tried fstrim to initiate the cleanup but that doesn´t work. If I write zeros to the file/partition/filesystem then the backend gets backs the storage. Is trim/discard supported to tell the storage backend that filesystem space is no longer needed or does anybody has experience with such a setup ? Thank you for your help. Regards Hans

Hi all ! My client have encountered a strange behaviour on some of its Nutanix-Dell Blocks and i'd like to share the resolution on this. Thanks to Nutanix / Dell support team for their 'patience' with IT team on this false-positive critical alert resolution. context : Multiple critical alert Seen on PRISM : FAN SPEED LOW for a whole cluster (this mean all FANS on ALL blocks). No alerts detected on IPMI / IDRAC and VIclient (directly on ESXi for HW messaging). HW: DELL XC 630-10 SW : NOS 4.6.4 HV : ESX 6.0 u2 Resolution : This is a false positive message which occurs when NOS cannot correctly interpret IPMI messaging due to a miconfig on a /etc/nutanix/hardware_config.json. the sensor of type "fans : rpm" has a misconfig on its adress. GOOD adress is "ipmi_sensor:FAN" BAD adress is "ipmi_sensor:FAN RPM" resolution will be to modify this descriptor for each FAN (14 on a XC630-10 model) on each host. Hi All, I upgraded our single node cluster last night, and it went pretty smooth. However, today I am noticing placeholder text (i.e. "vm_critical_alerts" instead of "Critical Alerts" and many, many fields coming back simply as undefined. Is this a known issue or did something go awry during upgrade? SSP is also not working, but I'm active in another thread for that. Thanks! Tim

Recently it appears that our "Automatic Downloads" function is not working anymore. I referenced following link to force immediate download for updates: http://aakashjacob.blogspot.com/2015/02/nutanix-techtip-2-enable-automatic_6.html The results of the auto download log output are below: This is output from a Nutanix CE cluster but it is the same error I see on one of our other full blown Nutanix clusters. What do the errors mean and what could be causing them? AU used to work before the holidays and there was a Palo Alto FW update done during the holidays. I have worked with the person responsible for the PA and he has tried everthing to allow traffic out from the IPs of the CVM(s) and still no luck. Any input would be appreciated...

Hello, I have a query here, we have deployed nutanix 4node in cluster with Windows 2012 R2 STD Hyper-v as hypervisor and provisioning of vms are also done. Now due to the increase in vm requirments, we need windows 2012 R2 STD hyper-v to be converted to Datacenter Edition without affecting the existing environment. I know converting Windows 2012 R2 STD to Windows 2012 R2 DC is possible in windows, however since ti is with nutanix i would like to know the possiblity and what is the way forward. If i convert via windows 2012 R2 will that impact the nutanix CVM in communicating and managing.

Hi all We have a small DEV 3 node lab to test features before moving forward, one feature in 5.0 we are looking forward too is the Self service portal, after upgrading to 5.0 I have selected the SSP which then asks for an ldap user, although this user authenticates correctly from Prism / Authentication / test When entering the same user in the cresentials for SSP I get the following error; Server with access directory url:ldaps://****** is down Has anyone seen this? is ldaps supported? as mentioned it works for Prism authentication This clutser is not under support, we are looking at a dev support option for this currently but we do have many other clusters Thanks Jason
