Hi,

Just sharing. I'm using XC XC6320-6
VMware-VMvisor-Installer-6.0.0-2494585.x86_64
phoenix-3.2.1_NOS-4.7
It works for me

You can download NOS from Nutanix portal. Don't forget to check compatibility matrix (NOS and Hypervisor)

There is nothing specific for Dell with respect to NOS or anything else. Use the same procedures that you'd use for NX based gear.

That is extremely specific to Dell and the RASR process.

Why do you need to download it separately? It should be stored along with the RASR bits on the systems themselves.

Only to show that XC had their specific Phoenix
I also have same experience with XC-730XD

Could you share the link where to download that specific Phoenix ?

Why do you need that specific Pheonix? Pheonix is hardly used anymore outside of RASR, all of the logic is integrated into Foundation now, which is a much more use friendly tool than Pheonix.

I don't feel RASR is hardly used. You can even reimage single node with monitor and keyboard only
My two deployment of XC6320 and XC730 end up with Phoenix method performed by Dell Technical Support since Foundation process keep failed

My conclusion so far
- Dell XC had their own Phoenix version
- CVM deployment can be done using Phoenix -3.2.2_NOS-4.7.1 (for ESXi and AHV. I had never test on Hyper-V)

True, RASR is one of the value-add pieces that Dell brings to the table, since they can do that out of their management platform on their servers which is great in a pinch

I am using Dell XC models also and last week had to re-install the CVM and I was unable to download Phoenix from the Nutanix Download sites. Dell had to send me a link in order for me to download the Phoenix ISO.

I used phoenix-3.2.2_NOS-4.7.1.iso to reinstall on my XC6320-6 Blocks.

Good Luck

Why you need to reinstall the CVM?Have you try RASR?

The node somehow dropped from the cluster and they could not get it added back to the cluster. Many, Many, Many, Many hours later, Nutanix had to go to their Development Team to get a workaround to add the Node to the cluster.

Super long and ardous ordeal...

CVM repair can be perform using RASR also. My XC6320 endup with manual installation since RASR can not be performed due to internal flash missed its hypervisor and Phoenix image.Anyway you can add node to cluster via prism. Expand cluster menu. Just make sure your cvm already installed on the node

I know how to do all of what you mentioned and we did all of it. Nutanix could barely figure out how to add it back to the cluster. As I stated Nutanix Support had to go their Development Team to add the node back to the cluster. They ran some command or did something on the CVM which is not publicly available.

Hey - Sorry your having issue. I looked at your company's account, looks like you had a ticket with Dell that Nutanix support was also helping on (Nutanix side ticket # 00089204), are you guys all squared away with these issues? From first glance, it looks like it, but I just want to make sure you're getting the right level of support that you need.

Thanks,
Jon
