Adding Storage and Nodes

I have expanded the existing block by adding two 1065-G8 nodes, each equipped with three HDDs and two SSDs. However, the new nodes, along with the HDDs and SSDs, are not being recognized, and there appears to be no power supplied to them. I am currently seeking Nutanix documentation on hardware installation but have not found relevant information yet. any idea?

When you go into the expand cluster you don’t see them being discovered?  Or it isn’t recognizing the hard drives in them?  If it’s the first then you are likely look at a networking issue like a tagged VLAN for CVM or issue with broadcast domains.  If the second then would need to check you have same hard drives as other

Go back 1 step, I cannot power on (electricity) pressing the power button on the block for the node does not do anything.

Ticket with the support advised to power of the block. below the steps that works:

  • I powered down the existing node and repositioned it in a different slot, which unfortunately did not resolve the issue.
  • Subsequently, I returned it to its original slot and disconnected the power from both power supplies, waiting for the yellow indicator light to turn off. This action also did not yield a successful outcome.
  • I then proceeded to disconnect the power, waited for the yellow light to deactivate, removed the power supplies, and reinstated them after a 3-minute interval. This procedure proved effective, and all nodes are now recognized with internal lights operational.
