Please your support, I have two nutanix servers each is 3 node cluster, how I can connect them so they appear as a single cluster, should I connect them via a physical switch? Second question is I have vSphere license which I want to install on the clusters, how should I do that?
Hi
I’m afraid that you need to elaborate a bit more your question.
Do you have 2 blocks of three nodes each running separately in a cluster?
vSphere license is applied after creating the Nutanix cluster and the VMWare cluster from vCenter like on a normal host
Regards!
Hello
Thank you for your reply. Yes I have two blocks (servers) each is 3 nodes, I want to run them in the same rack.
You need to deploy a Prism Central instance and connect both cluster to it. Then you have a single management interface for both clusters. For the same rack part, just connect all nodes to a leaf and spine topology,
Thanks for the help. In my case as a single rack, I don`t need Prism Central right?
Well you have 2 seperate clusters (each with 3 nodes) you said. And you want a single cluster? To do that you have a couple of options:
- Create a new cluster with all 6 nodes;
- Expand 1 cluster with the 3 other nodes.
Or, if both cluster are operational, deploy a prism central vm and connect both cluster to it. The rack config doesnt matter. Just make sure all nodes are connected correctly on 10Gbps connections. And, according to the best practices, your network switch topology should be leaf and spine.
Thank you
As I mentioned that I want to run vSphere not AHV, how could I create the cluster, should it be via prism or esxi? is there any practical resources that I can benefit from since I am an intermediate in nutanix.
I think that I can`t go with the option of prism Central since I don`t have the license, so I will connect the servers directly to the switch.
Thank you

You need to run foundation to reimage the nodes and to create the cluster. I think this is the easiest method for you.
Running foundation on your laptop will install esx on the nodes, create a cvm and create a cluster.
But I think best is to hire some external expertise who can help you with this. Normally this is done withing 2 hours.
