When Nutanix Files is configured, a legacy Protection Domain is created automatically on the cluster by default.
Around 20 other workloads are protected through Prism Central Data Protection using categories, with a daily protection policy and a retention period of two days.
My understanding is that Prism Central VM (PCVM), Controller VM (CVM), and File Server VMs (FSVMs) do not support Prism Central snapshot-based protection, and categories cannot be assigned to them.
This configuration had been working seamlessly for several months. However, one day I noticed that the FSVMs were unexpectedly showing a Protected state in Prism Central → Data Protection → VMs. No changes had been made to the protection policies or categories, so I am trying to understand why the FSVMs are now being displayed as protected.
If someone having the solution or workaround then please share.
