I would like to reduce the disk size

Is there any way to perform this activity in Element or Prism?

Using the console interface doesn't allow it.

Hi @gabriel.brunhara

I don’t believe that there’s a way to shrink the VM disk in the Prism Element Graphical User Interface

I’m not sure if this will help you :

  • If it is a windows vm you can only export the usable disk space using Microsoft tool called Disk2vhd and then provisioned a new vm based on that disk.
  • You can create a new vm with your preferred disk size and move the data to it.

That's a good approach, I'll try it.

Why you wanna shrink it? It doesn’t take any space. Nutanix is working with thin provisioned disk. Even when deleting data inside the vm is will be cleaned automatically with by the curator process in the CVM.

Because previous administrators mismanaged resources, and I have many VMs with huge disks and little data usage, and I have more critical VMs that I would like to increase the disk space for because I know they will grow soon, and I'm having problems with space in my cluster.
