Hi @Rakesh Ameta

I am not sure if I got your use case correct. Disk Quota I know from Self Service but the mentioned folders must be Nutanix Files. Could you provide some more details?

Thanks!

Hi Rakesh,

Here you can find information about quotas in Nutanix Files: https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/kbs/details?targetId=kA00e000000LMQtCAO

Per folder is nog possible. If you want that, create separate shares for them.

Sure,

we have a Nutanix file server version Acropolis 6.10.1.9 with 3 server cluster. In this file cluster, we created an FSVM named FS1, FS2, and FS3, and applied the file server license. On this file server cluster, we created a root share named “datafile”.

In this “datafile” share, we have multiple directories and subdirectories, and I want to create a disk quota on 6 subdirectories, with different size limits.

Hi @Rakesh Ameta there are two ways to create a folder quota, ideally you’d upgrade to the most recent release of Files (5.3) as it has a new and I’d say preferred method.

Before 5.3 you have to use a concept called a connected share.  This is where you create a separate share and plug it into the folder structure where you need.  For your example if you have a \\datafile share with subfolder \subdir1, you’d connect a share underneath \subdir1 and then limit the size of that share. More detail is here: Files 5.3 - Connected Shares

But like I mentioned, it’s easier to use the new function with Files 5.3, where you simply create a quota against the directory, much like how you’d create a user quota. That process is here: Files 5.3 - Creating a Directory Quota
