This April, we’re heading to Chicago (April 7–9) for Nutanix .NEXT — and we want you to help shape one of the sessions on the agenda.

Our session is called:

From Home Lab to Production: Why Nutanix Community Edition Matters

The core idea is simple: Community Edition (CE) is where builders begin. It’s where curiosity turns into confidence. Where late-night tinkering becomes real-world skill. And, more often than people realize, where production journeys actually start.

But instead of guessing what matters most to the community… we’d rather ask you directly.

What we want from you 👇

We’re opening this session up before we ever step on stage. Here’s how you can help:

1. Tell us what we should cover

What would make this session a must-see for you?

  • Some prompts to get you thinking:
  • How you got started with CE (first install wins + first install pain 😅)
  • Home lab architectures you’re proud of
  • Lessons learned moving from CE → production
  • CE for learning, cert prep, or experimentation
  • Automation, networking, storage, or Kubernetes with CE
  • Mistakes you made so others don’t have to

If you’ve ever thought “I wish someone explained this when I started” that’s probably a great topic.

2. Share photos of your home lab running CE 📸

Yes, we absolutely want to see your setups.

Rack or no rack. Mini PC or full server. Clean cable management or glorious chaos. If it runs CE, it counts.

We may even feature some of these photos live during the session 👀

Why we’re doing this

Community Edition is more than free software:

  • It lowers the barrier to entry
  • It creates hands-on learners
  • It builds real confidence

This session isn’t meant to be a slide-heavy product walkthrough. It’s meant to reflect how the community actually uses CE in the real world, your world.

If you’re experimenting, learning, breaking things, fixing them, and getting better because of CE, this session is about you.

How to participate

Drop your ideas and photos:

  • In the comments on this post

Tell us:

  • What you want us to cover
  • What you’ve built
  • What surprised you
  • What you’d do differently next time

Help us turn this into a session that feels less like a presentation and more like a community story told live on the .NEXT stage.

See you in Chicago. And until then… show us those home labs. 💜

I love this, I might have to tidy my lab desk to take a photo ;)
