Hi everyone, I'm struggling to find some documents about how ahv manages the virtual machine's ram. As far as I know, it doesn't share ram among vms....but, for example, what about overhead? Is it necessary to consider some overhead in addition to guest ram?Thank you all

Hi,
As far as my understanding there is no memory overcommitment in AHV, but yes you need to consider overhead as it is for all hypervisors out there. But as there is no memory overcommit, what I had seen in AHV is that the moment if you are exceeding VM Memory + Overhead Memory Prism will alert and not allow you to create new VM.

Ok thank you, so...since there is no memory overcommitment, I think it is important to know how much is the overhead...especially in order to power on all the vms after an host outage....
but I can't find this information 😞

Hi
Generally, the exact overhead memory is hard to predict but it is always low (~100MB) per VM, you have to have a look at the AHV VM High availability section in Nutanix Bible, it will help you.
