Warning: Max HDD/Total capacity alert on hybrid nodes exceeded

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

I would like to know what the root cause for this Warning Alert. It occurs on the day i was patching the LCM to version 2.7.1 .

The Warning alert is Maximum supported HDD/Total capacity installed on hybrid nodes. Configured memory does not support the total capacity installed on NVMe nodes.

I have ran the ncc health_checks system_checks dense_node_configuration_checks and result is:

Detail information for dense_node_configuration_checks Node <Cluster Virtual IP>

Warn:Node 97186 with 32GiB memory cannot support the HDD capacity of 70.96TiB. The minimum required memory for the current HDD capacity is 40GiB.

Node 4 with 32GiB memory cannot support the HDD capacity of 71.03TiB. The minimum required memory for the current HDD capacity is 40GiB.

Node 5 with 32GiB memory cannot support the HDD capacity of 71.46TiB. The minimum required memory for the current HDD capacity is 40GiB.

Node 6 with 32GiB memory cannot support the HDD capacity of 70.89TiB. The minimum required memory for the current HDD capacity is 40GiB.

But is also saying:

  • less than 40 GB for hybrid nodes above 32 TB HDD tier capacity

😉

So you have hybrid nodes with 32GB ram on the CVM’s?

This message shows you have to upgrade the ram on the cvm’s to 40GB. This because not doing this can have increased latency on the virtual machines.

Hi Jeroen,

Thanks for replying.

Is this Warning alert something new due to the product upgrades determine require changes in the CVM?

As you can see from my above dense_node_configuration_check, each of my nodes does not exceed

  • Maximum HDD capacity per node exceeds 80 TB starting from AOS 5.8 and higher, 120 TB starting from AOS 5.11 and higher, 185 TB starting from AOS 6.5.1 and higher.

Hi Jereom,

Then since when does this applied?

This wasn’t around during the setup and in the past and only prompted recently when l i patched the LCM to latest 2.7.1.
