I am setting up Nutanix Move. I need to migrate from ESXi to AHV and am looking for the VDDK. The link in the manual returns a 404 error. Logging in with my Broadcom account doesn't change the result. Do you know where I can find it?

looks like broadCON being broadCON.  No wonder everyone who can is jumping ship!  Best bet might be someone on here has the copy you need, what version do you require?

Unfortunatly you need to contact a Broadcom partner to get these bits. Or maybe ask for it on the vmware/broadcom forums.

Thank you.

I need the following two items:

VDDK-7.0.3.1

VDDK-8.0.3.2

I haven't received any response at all after posting on the Broadcom Community.

i thought I had  a copy of  7.0.3.1 but I can’t find it :-( i’ve logged in to broadCONs dev portal but can’t find anything there either.  It looks like they have changed some stuff and all the links seem to be dead.  Typical BroadCON what a shambles

Can I post both of them? Do I have permission?

Thank you.

I need the following two items:

VDDK-7.0.3.1

VDDK-8.0.3.2

I’ve checked both of 2 version:

VDDK 7.0.3.1 — this is the older branch. On the Broadcom Support Portal it lives under the vSphere 7.x SDKs. You'll only see it if your (or the customer's) account has a vSphere 7 entitlement attached, because downloads are gated by license version.

VDDK 8.0.3.2 — this is the 8.0 Update 3 branch, under the vSphere 8.x SDKs, gated the same way behind a vSphere 8 entitlement.

The only sanctioned way to get either right now: log in to support.broadcom.com (the support portal, not developer.broadcom.com) → switch the division selector top-right to VMware Cloud FoundationMy Downloads → find the vSphere SDKs. If the VDDK doesn't show up there, it means your account has no matching VMware entitlement, and that's the real blocker — you'd need your Broadcom account team to sort out access. There's no clean workaround for a missing entitlement; that's a licensing conversation, not a technical one.

It appears that Broadcom has discontinued general availability of VDDK without prior notice.

It seems I’ve been held hostage by vddk, so I can’t move...

There are some other ways you could migrate but none are as nice and easy as the MOVE tool.  What backup solution do you have does it support cross platform restores?  If so that could be another option, we looked at this for VM’s that the MOVE tool couldn’t move but Rubrik doesn’t support cross platform so we couldn’t use that route. Or you could export the VMs as OVAs and then import them into AHV.   Have you had any luck sourcing the VDDK from people on here?  How big is you environment?

If anyone is still struggling to get these files, send me a message and I will share them with you directly.

Hey folks,

I understand the VDDK thing is frustrating. However, we cannot allow distribution of the VDDK on the community site, nor can we allow distributing unofficial links to where the VDDK might be found.

Please refrain from sharing links in the future. That is all I am able to say; for further information on any Nutanix-related aspects to this issue, please open a support case.

Thanks!
