What is “Hybrid HCI”? Still refers to vSphere?

Michael,

More information would be necessary for a good answer but the short answer is Nutanix offers some oobe DR including cross-hypervisor DR which may be all you need.  Also most of the major players support AHV as well as ESXi both HCI and 3 tier implementations.  I would suggest you have a chat with your AM or SE with your scenario and they can help you get to the best solution for your particular case.

Agree with @DrewPlaster it’s a complex topic that could be managed by backup tools (essentially agnostic to all platforms) but you are asking for DR, which is a different topic.

Backup solutions can be used as DR solution, but RPO and especially predictiveness of RTO must be taken in account.

What happens if you realize that starting from backup solution takes 20min every 4 VM, there are 300VMs and your declared RTO is 12h?

if by Disaster recovery you mean, full restoration, I don't think any third party backup solution will provide you full that.
for example, you have AHV (or ESXI 3 tier), and your third party will take backup of VMs on top of them , for restoration, it will be able to restore those VMs , but it will need the hypervisor to be available, so if hypervisor is not available, you have to install (or prepare the environment) for VM restoration.
so it will not be fully DR, but if you are looking for VM backup, restore, then most of third party backup do cover that part.
