NC2 on Azure Deployment Pre-requisites-

Hello Everyone,
I started Nutanix Learning 2 months back and there are few questions which I am unable to find answers for, it would be great to hear from you guys, below are the questions I have-

  1. What kind of subscription one should have to create NC2 on Azure
  1. What kind of access (Owner/contributor) we should have
  2. Any reserved Network segment/IPs to deploy NC2 on Azure
  3. Minimum and maximum nodes we can create within a cluster or a single NC2 on Azure private cloud.
  4. Pre-requisites to deploy Nutanix MOVE

Hi

We don't enforce any particular type of azure subscription right for NC2 but at the end of day you are going to want to be able to get support for the bare-metal/networking and have the ability to create tickets.

We have a custom role you can setup. doc is here → https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Nutanix-Cloud-Clusters-Azure:nc2-clusters-azure-create-custom-role-for-rs-t.html

Just don’t deploy to public IPs and using 192.168.5.X/24 shouldn’t be used.  Min/recommend subnet sizes are listed here https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Nutanix-Cloud-Clusters-Azure:nc2-clusters-azure-getting-ready-for-deployment-c.html

Max Cluster size  is 28 nodes.

For Move, nothing really different than on-prem. You will need access to source management(vcenter/PC) and destination PC.  ie if VMware is the source
vCenter reachable from Move on port TCP 443.

ESXi hosts should be reachable from Move on ports TCP 443 and TCP 902.

Allow ports (TCP and UDP) 2049 and 111 between the Move network and the AHV CVM network.

Allow Move to talk to Prism Central and Prism Elements
Allow communication between VMs in vCenter and Migrated VMs in NC2. This rule will also vcenter VMs access to Move for preparation. Manually preparation mode requires port 443 to access VMs.

Thank you so much, really appreciate.

The NC2 specialists are really good. If you wanted connected with one in your area. Let me know dwayne dot AT nutanix.com

Hi @dlink7
Thank you for the Pre-Requisite document.
I have few queries if you get some time to have a look.

Let's suppose I have done Discovery and Assessment of the customer’s on-premises Vcenter environment, and we have suggested customer to go with NCI Pro subscription Plan.
I can see we can directly go to Azure and deploy NC2 clusters on Azure with desired plan.

Correct me if I am wrong, we can create Custom Roles (as you mentioned) after deploying NC2 cluisters, right?

Also, Do we explicitly setup my network on Azure well in advance or after the NC2 deployment we can do that? What network considerations I need to take care or what network information I have to be ready with while deploying NC2 on azure, if you can elaborate or help me it would be really great.
