I need to change the IPMI IP Address on 2 Nodes of a 4 Node Dell XC Block. I know how to change the IP from the iDRAC Console; however, how do I get it to update the Nutanix Node? I read through the Admin Manual; however, I could not find anything related to changing the IPMI IP Address. Thanks,David
We just set up AFS. On the home directories, we expected that like a Windows home directory setup, the user would be the only person able to view their home folder. (and Domain Admins of course). But, on AFS per this doc https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/docs/details?targetId=Acropolis-File-Services-Guide-v20:Acropolis-File-Services-Guide-v20 and also per our experience it seems like ALL USERS can view everybody's folder and contents. This seems like a security problem since HOME directories are typically expected to allow only the user to view their data. Is this by design? It seems like a significant security challenge and much different from how this would typically be set up on a Windows file server.
I have three protection domains, all containing VM's. All three have schedules set and I can see that local snapshots are being made. I have restored machines with no issues. All seems well, but I am getting "Backup Schedule" health warnings on all three PD's. Causes of failureNo backup schedule exists for protection domain protecting some entities. Backup schedule exists for protection domain not protecting any entity. Neither of the above suggestions is true. I can't seem to get this one to resolve. Is this a bug or is there something here I am missing?
Hi All First I run this: allssh manage_ovs --bridge_name br0 --interfaces eth0,eth1 --bond_name bond0 update_uplinks and the expectation I would have Bond0 entry somewhere, however I run the "ovs-appctl bond/show /bond0" command and I get this answer: FIPS mode initialized Nutanix AHV no such bond ovs-appctl: ovs-vswitchd: server returned an error What am I missing?

We are fairly new to Nutanix. We have two seperate clusters in seperate datacenters. Our goal is to be able to move workloads between clusters based on needs and resources. We are using VMware 5.5 and everything seems to work as planned with the exception of the moving from cluster to cluster. We have cluster A and cluster B. We are using metro availability to sync the data from cluster A to cluster B at this time and that seems to work correctly. When I attempt to perform a cold migration from cluster A to cluster B I get the following error:Relocate virtual machineArtemisCloneFile/vmfs/volumes/ec936530-956aa-9ac/ArtemisClone/ArtemisClone.-vmdk was not found cold migration from cluster B to cluster A works fine. the whitelists are identical on both clusters. VMWare isn't really much help as their reply is to just browse the datastore and add it to inventory on a server in cluster B
We have already mentioned some helpful resources relevant to SNMP configuration. This time we will take a look at examples, logs location and connectivity testing. Important:Nutanix appliances support only SNMP v2c and v3 (support for v2c in AOS 5.5 and higher). Starting from AOS version 4.1, auth-type MD5 is no longer supported. With SNMP v2c Nutanix support SNMP TRAP instead of SNMP GETFollow trough to KB-1333 Configuring and Troubleshooting SNMP monitoring for commands and examples. The article also reference two more KB articles as well as SNMP related PowerShell commands:KB-2448 How to import MIB in zenossKB-2028 Integrating Nutanix with Solarwinds
Hello everybody, is there any advise how to shut down the whole NX Block? I got my first NX1465 and run foundation and build the cluster with AHV.After the first configuration steps i will power the whole block off to bring the NX into our datacenter. So, i didn't find a "how to". Any ideas/hints? Greetings, Maikel
Has anyone ever attempted a Host book disk repair and encountered this issue before? All cables and SFPs are plugged in as if it were still in production. Have not yet attempted to rebuild via foundation as these were the steps provided by Nutanix support: https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Hypervisor-Boot-Drive-Replacement-Platform-v510-Multinode-G3G4G5:Hypervisor-Boot-Drive-Replacement-Platform-v510-Multinode-G3G4G5 Steps Taken: Downloaded and burnt phoenix.iso to USB Booted USB into Phoenix Kicked off Repair Host boot Disk and uploaded whitelisted ESXi image Encountered error I have a case open with support and have escalated and figured that while i’m waiting I could ask the community. Will provide a response here once we figure out the issue. Cheers All! (Edit: I posted this in the CE forum by accident)
Hi Everyone, I've planed to deploy Spunk on Nutanix on my Company. But i'm newbie in Nutanix, so I have some question about this: 1. Nutanix have hypervisor which I can use is ESXi, HyperV,KVM... so in my case, I will use Esxi and rehat to install Splunk. it's mean I have install Splunk on Redhat which is running on ESXi, is it right? Can i install Redhat directly to Nutanix server (1 node have 4 server?) 2. About the Cluster, Which is control the cluster on VM Host? Vmware vCenter or Nutanix Prism Central? 3. Nutanix have an OS is VM Controller? is it install on Vmware machine or is it a hypervisor? Thanks for all reply to make my clear this stuff.
Hello Community, I have some doubts about running Nutanix on VMWare with ESXi with Cisco ACI fabric. To start, we have already married ourselves to a Cisco ACI network fabric (two sites connected with 12x10Gbit fiber (120Gbit)). We are using an IPN / Spine / Leaf topology, with APIC clusters in each site. In each DC there will be 24 Nutanix Nodes. All of my question have to do with the best practices of integrating these technologies. 1) Is it necessary to use VMware NSX to reap the benefits of Cisco ACI? 2) Can we just use a simple VMware installation (without NSX) and allow Nutanix full access to the ACI fabric? 3) Whats the best practices related to these three technologies coexisting together? I have found documents on Nutanix/ACI and Nutanix/VMWare, but I cant find anything on using all three together in terms of hierarchy and how to stitch it all together. Any guidance from those who have experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Michael
hi, in the vsphere administrative guide its mentioned to use vmware SRM along with nutanix SRA for the remote replication.if nutanix have its own replication method what is the significance of SRM? Thanks in adance. RGDS rj
Hi All Is anybody else just going round and round in circles with Nutanix and the network it resides on? I am getting soooo peeeeeee'd off!! The man at the show said easy peasy, 15 minutes to deploy, which 15 minutes? The last 15 in 2019? Dell supplied, but don't really know the product so they pass calls off to Nutanix who do their bit (very well, no complaint there) but then hand the things about Dell back to Dell, so I am not getting a joined up answer. So the crux is that I don't have a stable network and I am ready to rip it all out and go back to VMware. Unfortunately my budget has gone and I have to rely on Communities for answers - not a lot forthcoming. Is anyone else having these sort of problems or is it just me?
Hi,I had a problem with the NTP server configured on the Nutanix cluster, unintentionally changed the date to 09012020 instead of 01092020, the point is that after solving that problem, now the cluster reports to me Critical alerts dated September 1, 2020. The date of the NTP is already corrected, but Web Console shows some critical alerts, but those alerts are not shown with ncli, but are shown with Alert tool. I have try to aknowledge and resolved them, but they are NOT eliminated from alert_list.Does anyone know what I can do so that the web console no longer shows them?
Hello, I`m not new to nutanix, but have a long time not focusing on nutanix installation step. while I installed nutanix with foundation+Phonex(NOS location selection)+Hypervisor image one year ago, I think Phonix is just exactly NOS at that time. I find it seems to have new method to image node: Foundation+AOS(NOS location selection)+Hypervisor image, or even having an JAVA applete+Foundation+AOS(NOS location selection)+Hypervisor image I`d like to confirm detailed difference between NOS , AOS, and Phoenix. I have asked guys, no one can explain this clearly to me. also what make me confused is there are varous statement about it in different guide(it is self-contradictory) , also Which phonex package should I use ? shows you need manually make/generate phonix ISO with AOS , but sees you shoud use the Phonix ISO downloaded from nutanix portal site ! look at these slices : "Phoenix is a tool used to install the Nutanix Controller VM and provision a hypervisor on a new or rep
You have just configured the ESXi hypervisor in a Nutanix cluster, and now wondering about the recommended configuration?Below are the configurations which shouldn’t be altered in Nutanix HCI. NFS settings VM swapfile location VM startup/shutdown order iSCSI software adapter settings vSwitchNutanix standard virtual switch vmk0 interface in port group "Management Network" SSH enabled Host firewall ports that are open Wondering how to change the ESXi hostname and is it even supported?Absolutely yes, you can change the ESXi hostname Follow the KB Mentioned below Changing ESXi Hostname Interested to know more?
