I try to deploy Nutanix in 3 nodes (Fujitsu) using Foundation VM , Every node have 4 NIC , 2 NIC to every switch , (Nexus 3548-x), IPMI connected to other CISCO switch We will install ESXi as hypervisor , The deployment fail , when i follow up in node console , it fail after creation bond and try to connect to foundation VM My question are :it should be connection between AOS to foundation VM IP ?what is best practices for configuration in two nexus switches and cisco switch , for example , all 10g in nexus switch are trunk ports , native vlan is cvm vlan … what i need more to do ?
Hello dear Nutanix community,A client of my company has purchased 3 HX Lenovo nodes and 2 ToR Cisco switches, each node was equipped with only 2 ports 10GbE (the LOM ones). However, with only 2 ports, I don’t know how to setup the cluster in a way that there is a redundancy. The current rack looks like this without any cabling yet: The IPMI port will go to a Management Switch, so there’s no issue there. But so far, I am confused as to how setup the cabling for the two interfaces; Should eth0 go to a port on SW1 and eth1 go to a port on SW2 for each of the 3 servers? or should both eth0 and eth1 go to the same switch? If I understood correctly the AHV Networking articles in Nutanix, eth0 and eth1 will form a logical bond (br0-up) inside the br0 bridge. And I’m guessing since we only have 2 uplinks per nodes (I’m going for the first scenario):> eth0 will go to SW1Port1 (for example), SW1Port1 will be configured as a Trunk port, for which the CVM/AHV VLAN and User VMs VLANs will be de
Hello everyone,I have to install the first Nutanix cluster from a customer but I can't figure out how to setup the network. All customer switches (Aruba 2930, 2920) have the native vLAN (vLan1) dedicated to workstations and servers, while the management network is vLan ID 10 where the ESX, storage controllers, backup NAS and the Veeam server backing up the current infrastructure. This is the situation of all my customers, vLAN10 is completely isolated and unreachable from the native vLAN1, this was done to prevent any ransomware from affecting the backups as well. Now, Nutanix recommends configuring the CVM and hypervisor host VLAN as the native, or untagged, VLAN on the connected switch ports.I'm sure it would be nice to have all of the management in the native, adding a node would be much easier and I think the simpler things are kept the better.Furthermore, vLAN10 is propagated on many remote racks because obviously the backup NAS do not reside in the same racks as the servers, how can
HiI have 4 Nodes cluster with the detailed network belowVLAN1000 : IPMI Usage (192.168.255.x/24)VLAN20 : GuestVM & Internal Cluster Network (192.168.2.x/24)I was using eth3 and eth4 in bond br0-up in bridge br0 (vs0) And then i’m adding a new vlan (VLAN30 : 192.168.3.x/24) for separating GuestVM network from Internal ClusterI am using eth0 and eth1 in another bond (bond br1-up in bridge br1) connected to my switchport mode access VLAN30. The problem is, when i created VM using that network (vs1), my guest vm cant ping anywhere even the gateway of its subnet. But when i test my laptop that connected to the switchport mode access VLAN30, my laptop can ping the Gateway. Here i give the detail of my topology and uplinks configurationTopologyUplinks of each hostsvs1 configuration Perhaps someone can enlight me maybe i missed something here when i’m trying to configure this? Thank you.
Hey guysI am reinstalling three Lenovo HX5521 nodes and I got stuck on the below errorFoundation IP not set. Try running the “set_foundation_ip_address” script on the desktopI'm running the foundation vm on the same subnet of the IPMI interfaces connected directly to an unmanaged switch, without VLANs or any other configuration. connectivity is perfect. I already reviewed all the settings and tried to reimage foundation using ESXi and AHV. Both result in the same error.Im running;Foundation_VM-5.2.2 AOS euphrates-5.20.3 LTS VMware-ESXi-7.0.1 or AHV-20201105.2244I've been trying to solve this problem for three days now, but so far I haven't found any clues. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! 👷🏽
We tried to create a create a new user in Prism with reference to article: Managing Local User Accounts | Nutanix CommunityWe created the new user successfully, but unable to login using the new user. Getting error: Incorrect username or password error. We have even reset the password several times, also deleted the user and created another still we are getting same error. Please help us with any solution.
Hi folks ! My client asked me a quite though question today : since we are bounded to CISCO Nexus for physical switches, we digged on a low latency nexus with SFP+ connection. It seems that 3064-X is a good choice but as far as I know, Cisco SFP+ compatibility with 3rd party is azardeous. 2 questions : Are there some kind of hardware restriction w/ Nutanix Supermicro stuff appart from SFP+ cable (MOLEX 074752 series as far as I know) ? Is there a compatibility matrix of this granularity level somewhere ? best regards,
Hey, We're in the process of getting an exchange server virtualized and according to Nutanix best practice, we should create a container with EC-X enabled. When I go to create the container in the PRISM gui, there's no option to enable erasure coding. This contradicts documentation where it shows the option under "advanced options" but on my end, it's not appearing.
i can see two VM in the Vsphere with the same nameOne with 100 GB allotted harddisk space i have deleted the around 100 VMs from the cluster and after that too also i am not able to create more machine in the cluster.please advice
Hello - Trying to upgrade via one-click upgrade in Prism from 184.108.40.206 to 4.0.3. Even though I have "Enable Automatic Download" enabled it does not show 4.0.3 as "available compatible version." However, I have another identical cluster which shows 4.0.3 as available. Anything I am missing to make sure Prism auto downloads the latest NOS from Nutanix? Thanks.
I took the admin course two weeks ago and have been tasked with writing an operations manual. One of the sections relates to backup & recovery so my question is "Do we need to backup anything like configs/settings to a USB drive in case of a serious outage?". If not, how does one recover from the most serious of outages? Being new to Nutanix, I'm not even sure what a catastrophic outage would entail so if someone could articulate same and provide a high level recovery process, I would be most appreciative.
Hi All, We are about to secure our first Nutanix Deal (in our region) - our existing customer have a vsphere environment with 35 Virtual Machines (Exchange / AD / SQL / Oracle DB) - they are willing to go AHV. After setting up the first block - what would be the best way to migrate all virtual machines from existing vspehre cluster? Existing vSphere cluster is using VMFS data stores off their existing SAN. will be grateful for your suggestions / insights / best approach towards this. Kind regards
I added a 1TB disk to each of my 1050 nodes. I followed the guide and added them correctly. Just noticing that in hyper-v though it still shows the 6th disk as completely free. It's offline and added as a pass-through like the other 5 disks are to the CVM. I only have a single storage pool so it looked like it added them automatically to the correct storage pool ids. I just want to make sure it's added right. How do I set the Location so it's the correct slot too? I wasn't able to see t
In regards to deploying ESXi 5.5 or 6.x hypervisor in the field. The most recent version of Phoenix available for ESXi appears to be 2.0.4. Does that mean I need to download Foundation components 2.0 and not 3.x? Also, the file name for Phoenix version 2.0.4 is "phoenix-2.0.4_ESX_NOS-220.127.116.11.iso". Does that mean it is for ESXi 4.1, and is not supported for ESXi 5.x or 6.x? Thank you.
Hi, I'm implementing Nutanix AHV at a customer in a bunker environment. There is no internet access, and the infrastructure will have minimal to no LAN communication outside of the cluster infrastructure. The customer expected to use IP and shot names based on hosts files instead of DNS resolution. Unfortunately, on Foundation, there is no way to setup the cluster with no DNS. And I guess NTP will be the same, but I didn't get there. Any workaround ? Or are NTP and DNS mandatory for the cluster to work ?
