What Host is a Windows VDI running on when running on AHV

Hi,

We’re currently moving from Nutanix Hyper-V cluster to a Nutanix AHV cluster. We’re running Windows 10 VDIs on these clusters, currently we use BGInfo to display various settings for our users (VDI name, IP Address, Host Name). On Hyper-v it creates a registry key on the VDI with the Host that the VDI is running on. Does anyone know how i fins this information when running on a AHV cluster..?

Thanks

Hi, if you know the IP address, then the host can be viewed in the prism element or in the prism central

Yes i know we can do that, but i want to display this information in the BGInfo on the users desktop.

Below is what we have when the VDI runs on a Hyper-V host. This information is stored in the registry of the Windows 10 VDI. I can’t find anywhere in the registry on a Windows 10 VDI running on AHV where it tells you the host it’s currently running on.

The hyper-v is native to Windows, Microsoft has provided a lot of integrations. AHV is highly isolated, it is possible to install NGT, but in the end there is VSS and self-restor in http://localhost:5000/, in fact it should not even be possible to use REST API, because it is very unsafe if the client VM will be able to communicate with AHV and CVM.

In addition, in the case of high processor load, the VM can move to another host, as part of the redistribution of resources
