Hey Lukasz,I once used IIS for a dark site and gave up in the end from weirdness so it’d be good to get this working :) If you browse to http://ip/release can you browse down through each of the folders in a browser?It might be worth looking at the access log so you can see what the cvm’s are hitting as they iterate through the index listings - might find a 404 or 403 in there.Cheers,Kim

Hey,No worries that’s fine.Do you know what the underlying OS is, I think the answer to get more info is to boot from an ISO and mount the partitions from the vmdk and try to get to the log files to see if the kernel panic is logging a ‘why’ in there.I suspect it is a missing driver that may need to be installed/slipstreamed into the vmdk for it to boot properly but its hard to say with only a tiny snippet of the panic.

Hey,There is a separate specific AD join for Files Normal PE authentication just relies on LDAP talking to AD/Directory for user/group enumeration/auth whereas Files performs an actual machine account 'join' operation for the files instance.There's more clever involved where Files AD join is involved updating SPNs/DNS etc so individual FSVMs can be the files instance name etc for clients and similarly in a SmartDR scenario where the Identity of the files instance is brought up on the DR side for clients to get to their data. Hi there,Yeah, I hear what you’re saying but comparing ‘just’ the hypervisor (ESXi) to the whole software defined hyper-converged stack (AHV+AOS/CVM) isn’t quite a straight comparison.Be good to see what the errors are, genesis would be running inside the CVM so I’m hoping if you’re seeing those then the virsh list --all will show the CVM up and running then we can get into it via ssh nutanix@192.168.5.2 from the AHV prompt.Then we’re interested in the output of genesis status first.Cheers,Kim

Hello,Hope you’re well.Can you confirm the switch configuration for the physical ports towards the Nutanix hardware?I think the problem here may be that the switchports are not trunk ports with the allowed vlans - 61, & 64.A ‘sh run’ or equivalent from the Switch would be good to start with.Thanks,Kim
Hello,Hope you’re well.LCM will deal with the maintenance mode activities for you, you don’t need to worry about them.If you’re using a dark site web server you simply point LCM to it with the relevant bundles extracted on there and it will inventory and deal with the upgrade plan etc.If you are on a new enough version to not need the webserver you can direct upload in LCM to upload the LCM bundles directly.LCM will deal with telling the CVM/hosts about maintenance mode etc as it works around them upgrading.Cheers, Kim

Hello,Hope you’re well.This is a good question, and something which I think will start to happen more and more as newer hardware with faster NICs arrive.The Nutanix recommendationis to not mix speeds or drivers within a bond (i.e. within a host) so having 4 hosts on 10Gbps and 2 more hosts on 25Gbps doesn’t break that recommendation. https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/solutions/details?targetId=BP-2071-AHV-Networking:bp-ahv-networking-best-practices.htmlThere are practicalities to consider however, you should ensure that your workload currently remains well below the 10Gbps ‘limit’ you currently have to be comfortable that you’re not suddenly moving into a new world where 15Gbps would become a better limit and your older servers at 10Gbps would become a problem.Good monitoring is key here, and if you’re unsure you could limit your 25Gbps NICs to 10Gbps for a bit more consistency.Cheers,Kim

Hello there, Depends what you want to test, but I'd recommend trying the new (ish) demo.nutanix.com updates that are pretty swish. Otherwise test drive will let you play on something more dedicated for a short while.Or take a course with some live labs, or give community edition a go. ;)
