Hello, We just received some alerts from our PRISM about the disk firmware. Following the alerts we have to upgrade them. Info : SATA DOM on host XXXXXX has old firmware version: SATADOM-SL 3IE3 firmware version is S560301N. Need to upgrade to the latest firmware version. We know that the upgrade do an upgrade one disk at a time but i've some doubts about the process to use before to click to upgrade. https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/docs/details?targetId=Web_Console_Guide-Prism_v4_7:wc_cluster_firmware_upgrade_wc_t.html My question is, should we move our VM from the host before to upgrade the disks? should we add our hypervisor in maintenance mode in order to upgrade the disks? Recently i have upgraded some Firmware for one of the cluster. Firmware upgrade has migrated all VMs to other host and put the host into maintenance mode. i was cross checking the behavior on vcenter and found in tune as per process but after migrating all VMs to other host it reset the uptime for all migrated VMs in vcenter logs/view. but when checked guest os uptime then it was older than vcenter info. (VMs were not rebooted). i am unable to understand that, is it a bug or do i have an issue with Nutanix cluster.
We are creating a Nutanix cluster and staging/patching before moving to the production site. We don't have time during staging to stand up the whole infrastructure on the new cluster (vCenter, AD, etc) so we are adding the new hardware to an existing vSphere/vCenter environment. We will need to then move the cluster to the new site, and build the new AD/vCenter servers and use the new hosts to create a new Nutanix cluster. Trying to discern the best way to migrate the cluster from one vCenter/AD to a new vCenter/AD that will be built fresh.
I did a trial of Flow about a year ago. We decided to not implement Flow. Since then obviously the licenses have expired, but the expiry banner remains even though we don't plan on using it. How do I remove that license/suppress the banner? Hi all, I am new to Nutanix and am looking for best practices around swap space on Nutanix AHV VMs. Having SSD drives it is understood swap (writes) will decrease hardware life. Can swap be allocated only to HDD drives only and/or is it best to use a low swappiness value to lower the amount of swaps? Thanks,
Hi, Is any nutanix node or any hardware component which includes only cheap storage disk to use for backup? Something like storage cabins... We need cheap and huge storage to use as a backup but we shouldn't waste nutanix node's storage. On the other hand, is it possible to connect to third party storage providers like Hitachi,netapp using FC? Thanks in advance.
I have three questions. Please answer. 1.For example, we are using three nodes. There's a resiliency warning for prism because of the high utilization of storage. Then there was a problem in use and one node failed. I wonder what happens in this case. What kind of error is caused? Can we keep the service? 2.What's the maximum storage utilization that Nutanix can continue with its services? 3.What happens when storage utilization is 100%?
What is the hardware requirement for creating single or two node cluster or is there some particular model that support single or two node cluster deployment. I have nodes from Lenovo, model HX3720. Can I deploy single or two node cluster on this hardware? Thanks.

I've completed the necessary Kerberos settings, however I am receiving an error during the pre-upgrade check "Non-Standard Network Settings, cannot proceed with hypervisor upgrade" This makes me sad :sleepy: the KB number referenced does not exist so I'm a bit of a loss on what to do next. Is there anyway to find out what it thinks the non-standard settings are - or perhaps work out what it think standard should be? TIA Dave
Hi guys ! I'm planning to deploy a metro cluster for my current customer and I have some troubles finding a precise guide to Network Metro Witness configuration. I know that it should be 200 ms RTT at max but that's it ? Will I be able to configure a L3 network or do I need to extend my L2 HCI network to the third site ? If L3 is an option (well hope so...) then what /where and how should I configure my clusters to communicate with witness ? Do someone have some info on this or should I open a support ticket ? best regards ! Thomas
I'm starting to explore the foundation API for potential to automate the imaging process of new Nutanix clusters. Do I need to have the Foundation VM running and connect to TCP/8000 on that? Can I leverage Portable Foundation?
So how much do you run your cluster memory usage? Currently we are at 50% usage but still adding VM's. My boss wants to run this to 100% and doesn't understand why I keep telling him this is a bad idea. I am trying to keep it at 2/3 to 3/4 usage of capacity. Am I right or wrong on this? I am doing a bad job of explaining this to my boss who doesn't seem to believe me so do you guys have any resources that can help me explain this? Right now we are running application servers and no core functions but we are looking to migrate our DHCP servers. We have 1.1 TB of memory capacity running at 51% usage. CPU usage is not a problem running at about 12%. Storage is also fine. We are running 6x Dell 740XC if that helps.
We are looking to make a hardware purchase in the near-term and have a question: Is there a necessity to go with SAS versions of SSD's? Or, are SATA versions sufficient? Also, we are weighing the options of the all-flash and hybrid (SSD & HDD) storage models. Please provide your experience with either. Thank you in advance for your response, -Tom

Hi, I am currently working with a customer who is looking into Nutanix and we are planning a POC. They have large VMWARE environment running 6.7. They have some applications that require SR-IOV. If we decide to go to Acropolis, is SR-IOV supported in Acropolis or is there a feature similar to that available natively on Nutanix? Many thanks.

Has anyone successfully been able to get HyperV(or ESXi) nested under AHV? I do see nested [b]KVM[/b] VM's are supported but no mention of anything else. Only reason for exploring this is to get Cisco Umbrella VA's working under AHV so i don't have to re-purpose an old server to run HyperV/ESXi.
Dear All, Currently my Nutanix cluster consist of 3 Nutanix block, 5 node running on AHV 20170830.171 1 block of 3 NX-1065-G5 node 1 block of 1 NX6035-G5 1 block of 1 NX6035-G5 Recently, one of the NX6035-G5 is down due to hardware issue. Somehow, all the VMs hosted on this node not able to auto failover to the others node. Upon checking with Nutanix, we were informed that the failover failed as we don't have sufficient available memory. We were told that AHV will perform the failover for all the fail VMs to one particular node which have sufficient resources to accommodate it; like moving the whole load from the fail node to another node. Previously we are using VMware where it will failover VM by VM to all the available nodes. Anyone encounter similar issue with AHV?
