I have a host I need to re-assign to other purposes. This host is part of an AOS cluster, running ESXi as a hypervisor. So basically, I need to remove the host from the ESXi cluster, then also gracefully remove it from the AOS cluster, so I can re-use the hardware elsewhere. Ive been reading this page:https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/details?targetId=Web-Console-Guide-Prism-v7_3:wc-removing-node-pc-c.htmland it’s still unclear to me. It sems I have to first remove the host from the ESXi cluster (I can look up how to do that), but the instructions on how to then gracefully remove the node from the AOS cluster aren’t clear (to me). I’ve opened a ticket with Support, but while I wait for them, does anyone have any experience doing this? Or a page with step-by-step screenshots, perhaps? I’ve had to remove an ESXi host from a cluster once (long, long ago), but have never done so in an AOS cluster. Thanks!
So we installed a Nutanix three-node cluster at our primary datacenter a couple years back. We had always been a VMWare/ESXi shop, and we needed a new cluster to replace the aging Cisco UCS we had running on ESXi.We debated when we installed it whether we should go with AHV, or if we should stick with ESXi on the new cluster. We ended up going with ESXi because of familiarity and trust. About three months later, Broadcom bought VMWare and the pricing went all the way through the roof and into outer space. We just installed a second three-node Nutanix cluster at our secondary datacenter, for primarily DR purposes. It's functionally identical to the original, just one model later, I think. This one is also replacing an aging Cisco UCS running ESXi. This time, we stayed with AHV for reasons that are clear. Now, we want to migrate the original Nutanix cluster we installed off of ESXi and onto AHV, for a number of reasons. I've been researching options, and the most appealing would be to do a
When I ran Perform Inventory it created "LCM root task has been created" and it got stuck at 0%. When I checked I saw that there was a NCC alert for idf db to db sync, which was resolved by following KB-5582 and KB-13381. But the task is still at 0%. I need to upgrade Prism Central and AOS version so that it is again compatible with support.nutanix@NTNX-172-20-151-99-A-PCVM:~$ ecli task.list include_completed=falseTask UUID Parent Task UUID Component Sequence-id Type Statusdc01feaa-739c-4e69-4632-409e799d4c18 lcm 146 kLcmRootTask kRunning
I have purchased a PowerEdge R7615 with some of the additional things in it. I have purchased that hardware to install Nutanix Foundation. Below are the list of hardware which I have.Processor - AMD EPYC 9124 3.0GHz, 16C/32T, 64M Cache (200W) DDR5-4800 - 1 QTYMemory Capacity - 32GB RDIMM, 5600MT/s, Dual Rank - 2 QTYRAID/Internal Storage Controllers - PERC H755 Adapter, Low Profile - 1 QTY SSD - 800GB SSD SAS ISE, Mixed Use, up to 24Gbps 512e 2.5in with 3.5in HYB CARR, AG Drive - 1Hard Drives - 1.2TB Hard Drive SAS ISE 12Gbps 10k 512n 2.5in with 3.5in HYB CARR - 2 QTYEmbedded Systems Management - iDRAC9, Enterprise 16G - 1 QTY. I have missing hardware, and I believe that Nutanix works with additional hardware, HBA355i Storage Controller, instead of RAID Controller and It also requires BOSS-CONTROLLER 480 GB. I will upgrade the hardware with these material. I have doubt on the SSD part, will 1 X 800 GB SSD and 2 X 1.2 TB HDD, allows me to install Nutanix Foundation,.
Hello,I just did a new installation, but CVM won't start at all.No errors occurred during installation.During setup, the SSDs were selected as ‘C’ and ‘H’.The HDD was selected as ‘D’.How can I resolve this issue? Hp z800 workstationcpu : 2x xeon x5650ram: 128gb1x hdd 1tb2x ssd 250gb
Hello,I’ve been trying to begin my journey with APIs. After some reading and cross-checking with my feature requirements I decided to use APIv4 (as v3 doesn’t allow interacting with Templates, for example). For all I know (someone please correct me if I’m wrong) my current version of Prism Central [pc.7.3.0.6] as well as other components, like AHV [10.3.0.1] or AOS [7.3.0.5] should allow for apiv4 calls. Checking “about Nutanix” link in Prism Element gives out “Version 7.3.0.5 - STARTER License” but this starter license should allow for apiv4 - the internet says. Unfortunately all I can get at the moment is api v1,v2 and v3 and no there are no api v4 endpoints available at all.Can someone please tell me what’s going on? I’ve even started Prism upgrade from 7.3.0.5 to 7.3.0.6 to then go to 7.3.1 hoping that maybe the update will enable api v4, but the more I read about this the more I think this won’t resolve my issue. Thanks!
Does anyone have a checklist for implementing NKP in a customer's Nutanix environment?
I am a newbie to Nutanix and after successfully installing CE 2.1 on generic PCs and would like to go beyond CE and want to get into the commercial product just to get acquainted in my home lab. Bought an used NX-1175s-G7 with only the original 240GB NVME stick on the motherboard but no SSDs and HDDs and memory. Installed on hand 64GB memory and tried with some drives but the installation is failing always at this point. If someone has the exact model, I appreciate if you give me the above requested make and model part numbers. There are the last few lines of the installer. All server the same Dell PowerEdge R640 and i has installation through iDRAC Virtual Media.Physical disk the same on all servers:Whan i has try to install first time on 1st server i has same error, but whan i convert disk to Non-RAID problem has resolved. But on 2nd node it does not resolve problem. Please help with this error.
Hello All, I’m currently looking for a way to create a template that has installed NGT tools because I’m encountered an issue of Prism Central not detecting the NGT Tools Status of the VM (P.S this VM is deployed by a template that have already installed NGT Tools).I want to know how I can create a template which doesn’t need to do further after deployed a VM (Windows or Linux so whatever). Please share your thoughts. Thanks,
Hello, customer has 2 clusters in different datacenters and a single node “cluster” within PRISM central (also Witness instance) at 3rd location. If he is going to upgrade the single node (firmware) he must shut down all UVM, PRISM central too.How may he get the PRISM central vm to start automatically when cluster starts?kind regardsThomas
helloi have three cisco servers ucsc220M7N standalone serverscan i deployment Nutanix AHV cluster on this standalone nodes without UCSM or Intersight VM ??
This is now CE installation trial #5 or 6 or so. Now this time I went with the official publication and ended up with a PE that doesn’t give me an option to install PC - not even showing AHV Trying to install CE as a VM unter ESXi 7.0.u2 According to the manual I gave the H volume a drive on SSD (with 700GB as the prior trials to install PC always came up with a not enough resource error), for C of NVME 800GB and for D 2TB on the same NVMe After primary deployment I went on with the cluster generation via SSH. End this time ending up with that. The quality of that CE doesn’t really flash me.
Dear Folks,I am planning to proceed with the foundation imaging of our Nutanix NX-8170-G9 nodes using a standalone 1GbE switch (small 6 port) . For the initial setup, I will connect the BMC port and the AIOM port (for CVM traffic) to this switch and it will configure Active/Backup.Each node is equipped with two 10GbE LC fibre ports, currently intended for CVM and VM traffic via LACP bonding. My question is:Post-foundation, how can I transition from the temporary 1GbE Active/Backup setup to the intended LACP configuration on the 10GbE interfaces? Is it possible to perform this change via the Prism Element GUI, Or is it necessary to access the CLI through the IPMI console? Could you please outline the recommended procedureThx Calvin

Dear folks, Nutanix KB 3523https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documents/kbs/details?targetId=kA032000000TUksCAGI followed the instructions under Option 2: Creating an ISO Using a Foundation VM (in case Option 1 couldn’t be performed), and used the following command to generate the Phoenix ISO:[nutanix@nutanix-installer bin]$ ./generate_iso phoenix --aos-package=/home/nutanix/foundation/nos/nutanix_installer_package-release-euphrates-7.0-stable.tar.gz --kvm=/home/nutanix/foundation/isos/hypervisor/kvm/kvm_host_bundle_**.isoThis generated a 6.91 GB Phoenix ISO with AOS version 6.10.1.1 and AHV included. Before booting the actual G9 nodes remotely via IPMI, I tested the ISO on a VMware Player VM. It installed successfully but only showed a Phoenix OS prompt—no CVM interface or cluster setup options appeared, which I understand isn’t the correct way to test it.This is my first time working with the Phoenix ISO. Is there an official document or guide that explains how to properly image a node u
!--startfragment>Dear Peers,I’ve recently received three new G9 servers and I’d like to image them remotely using ISO files before creating a Nutanix cluster. The target hypervisor is AHV.Is it possible to perform remote imaging using ISO files? If so, where can I download the required AHV images, or how can I create a single ISO image suitable for this process?Any guidance or best practices would be greatly appreciated. Thx Calvin!--endfragment>
i have installed Nutanix SE on a old HPE DX380 Node without problems. I can ping the CVM and AHV Host IPs and i have also ssh connect but i cant connect via Browser with the CVM IP. no matter what command I run via ssh it always comes: Error: Cannot connect to Prism Gatewayi tried to configure proxy, name servers but always the same problemWhat it’s wrong? Thanks for every hint/help
Hi Team,Will Nutanix CE will supports on (Product Name : ProLiant ML350 Gen10) Boot method: USB created with RufusDisks: Raid 1 with 3 disks.
HiI'm using 6.5.2 LTS.I have a cluster consisting of three machines. As you can see in the attached screenshot, on the Prism Element home screen, each resource in the cluster is displayed as "not available."The Storage Summary also shows values that differ from actual usage.I've configured SNMP in Prism Element, and when I use snmpwalk to retrieve values such as hypervisorRxBytes from the monitoring server, the values always show the same.If you know the cause, please let me know. Thank you in advance.

How many Ubuntu Pro licenses are required for a Nutanix cluster? Do we only need to license the Nutanix cluster nodes, or do we also need to purchase separate Ubuntu Pro licenses for each virtual machine running on the cluster?
Hello, first time poster. I’ve created a one-node cluster on an intel NUC 10 (NUC10FNH) using latest phoenix image. install went fine after a couple of hardware bumps but node is up, CVM is running etc. The issue I’m having is I can’t power on any VMs I create. It only gives a generic “InternalException” error. In the uhura.out log, there are these entries “Error: HypervisorError: internal error: QEMU unexpectedly closed the monitor” and “qemu-kvm: Address space limit 0x7fffffffff < 0x4bcbfffffff phys-bits too low (39): 61”. Having a hard time trying to make sense of this. I’ve read other people running on the same hardware with no issues, maybe it’s the specific version of the CPU (it’s an i7-10710U). one-node cluster, 64GB RAM, one 500GB m.2 SSD and one 500GB SATA SSD. booting off a 64GB usb drive. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.
Hi all,I deployed a Prism Central in small size, and now I need to enable Intelligent Operations and DR. Does anyone have the procedure to convert the size?ThanksRegardsGiuseppe
HI Team,Recently, I have brought Nutanix Community Edition in my lab for testing. The testing requires to configure a internal network to have a connectivity between 2 virtual machines. To do that, I have created a internal network and assigned it to 2 virtual machines. I do observe self ping failed in Linux though ifconfig shows IP address configured correctly. I need to reach from one VM to another using this custom subnet. Please let me know if I am missing anything here.
