Hi, anybody help me on below query, We have a three node AHV Nutanix cluster which is running on 1 Gig TOR Switch, now we are replacing the 10 Gig TOR switch instead of 1 Gig TOR Switch. is there any impact for the cluster..?what are the steps need to take to perform this activity…? Thanks,Ashok.
The setup is a cluster with 3 hosts. The cluster is up and running. However, the VMs connected to one of the hosts are not able to access the internet or other VMs on the network. If any of the affected VM is migrated to another host in the cluster, then it will be able to access the internet or other VMs on the network.Once it is returned to the faulty host, the connectivity problem will persist again.
I am considering deploying a hub-spoke architecture with Nutanix Clusters at 1-2 Data Centers with Riverbed SteelFusion Hyper-Converged Appliances at the Regional Offices (To Reduce Server Footprint and Optimize WAN connectivity). Has anyone on the board deployed this solution? If so, please elaborate on your experiences... Appreciatively, Dholling "MacMan"
Hello all I'm trying to establish the optimal disk layout for a VMware MS SQL 2016 2 node guest failover cluster that will have a single SQL instance hosting multiple small to medium sized databases. Unfortunately we don't really have the funds for licensing to do the recommended approach of creating lot of small VMs to host these databases, so we need to consolidate where possible. I've been reading though the Nutanix SQL 2016 best practice guide and it's raised a few questions. I've decided to allocate multiple vdisks specifically for database files, so I'd have a few database files to each vdisk instead of one vdisk with all the database files on it. I'm assuming this approach might be better due to each vdisk having a 6GB Oplog allocation and so more vdisks would prevent a single oplog from quickly over filling? Is there any there real a benefit here to having more vdisks to spread the databases across or does this only really come into play when you split indi
Hi, I just added a new storage disk onto a VM and copied data onto it then realize we'd rather just expand the current one so I deleted the new disk and when I go to expand the current disk it is showing that I have no more space to use to expand. Where is the space going after I delete disks? Thanks,
I’m planning to move a Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter Edition VM from Hyper-V 2012 R2 to AHV on AOS 5.10.2 today. I have created a similar (but not cloned) test VM in the environment and migrated it yesterday with no issues. UEFI worked fine. Today in my final prep I’m seeing that in newer versions of the Nutanix documentation (AOS 5+) that this migration and VM type (AHV with UEFI) is listed as Limited Support and “Not recommended for Production”. Ray Hassan from our solution engineering team has blogged about Elasticsearch on his site cannybag.com (don't ask :-) Here are some relevant blogs worth sharing: * http://cannybag.com/2015/10/elk-on-nutanix-elasticsearch/ * http://cannybag.com/2018/08/elasticsearch-sizing-on-nutanix/ Elasticsearch is also available as a pre-seeded app blueprint through Calm -- https://portal.nutanix.com/#/page/docs/details?targetId=Nutanix-Calm-Admin-Operations-Guide-v57:nuc-launching-elastic-search-app-blueprint-t.html Gabe Contreras, consulting architect in our services team is also writing up a blog about Elasticsearch on Nutanix that will be published soon. What organizations lose when not chose Nutanix as the Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) Solution – Part 1
Technology landscape is changing rapidly, and IT teams in organizations should embrace the newer technology at the earliest as it would be refreshed in no time. Meanwhile, there are some technologies which are making their presence felt and getting enough attention that every other vendor is willing to launch or have a me-too product irrespective of its Reliability, Availability, Serviceability, and Scalability features. The technology is Hyper-Converged Infrastructure aka HCI. The organization coined and pioneered this is Nutanix Enterprise and a product initially good for running Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Solutions has become de-facto standard for all kinds of virtualization workloads be it VDI, Remote Office Branch Office (ROBO), Business Critical Applications (BCA), or similar virtualized workloads. Nutanix is about to complete 10 Years in industry, lot of things have changed from its inception as a Hardware Appliance-based Solution to True Hybrid Cloud bas
Can someone chime in on how Licensing woudl work when using AHV? For example, we currently have Windows 2012R2 Datacentre edition on each host and we have the ability to have unlimited licensed Windows Servers virtualised. I know that AHV doesn't require a license but does that mean that a license for each Widnows Virtual Server will need to be purchased hence invalidating our Datacentre license???
I'm trying to deploy FortiAuthenticator v5.5 VM but running into issues on AHV. I've tried creating the VM using the files from Fortinet but no instructions when using AHV per this guide: https://s3.amazonaws.com/fortinetweb/docs.fortinet.com/v2/attachments/5795878a-1f78-11e9-b6f6-f8bc1258b856/fac-vm-install-guide-43.pdf The files I've used are the following:

KVM - fackvm.qcow2, datadrive.qcow2
Vmware - fac.vmdk, datadrive.vmdk
screenshot attached of my options from Fortinet

Created vm adding cloned dis
Is it ok to install Nutanix Guest Tools in a guest vm template before the template is Sysprepped? I need to deploy a bunch of Server 2008 r2 VMs that will need NGT. I'm aware that it's easy to automate NGT install AFTER vm deployment and I do that for most cases; however on Server 2008 r2 builds there's a techinical limitation that prevents this from working. So I'm wondering if there is anything in NGT that will break if the vm is Sysprepped afterward.
In the last few weeks we have been experiencing complete host CPU usage at 100% on all of our host(6 of them). We were never this high. When the system is at this level no one can do much on the ystem for a few minutes. The biggest change we did was add Bitdefender Gravity Zone to our system. We have about 650 VMs on the system. Memory usage hovers between 50-60% on all the hosts. We are running ESXI hypervisor with VMware Horizon to run our VDI system. Anyone have an insight into this situation? Is there any tweaking I need to do? What could be causing this?
I found a problem that can not type a full stop symbol into User VMs under acropolis hypervisor but if I uesd a remote desktop connect to those User VMs It's available a full stop symbol I want to know that in this case it is a problem with IE or AHV. Hi,we are running 20 Nutanix Nodes with AOS 5.0.1 and ESXi 6.0 as hypervisor. Normally we using passwordless login to the ESXi host using SSH Keys. So we copy our public key as usual to /etc/ssh/keys-%u/authorized_keys, but after a reboot of the ESXi Host our keys are removed. So I modified the sshd_config on the ESXi host to use multiple authorized_keys- AuthorizedKeysFile /etc/ssh/keys-%u/authorized_keys+ AuthorizedKeysFile /etc/ssh/keys-%u/authorized_keys /etc/ssh/keys-%u/authorized_keys2But even with this config, the authorized_keys2 is also deleted. Can anyone assist me to solve this issue in case of our internal security guidline to use passwordless login.Best regardsMarkus
